Just count ... Indian Navy now has 27x DDGs and FFGs, 14x subs, 30+ corvettes and missile boats. Indian Navy has a long way to go, numbers still less than Japan ships ... India need building more DDGs and FFGs.
Only Quantity doesn't matter, size of warship and and its capability, technological impacts the result of war.
Indian Navy is significantly stronger than British, French and Japanese. In case of numbers, we will catch up soon. :)
Sorry, for replying late. Guests came home so I had to leave.

If India is ahead of Japan, Britain and France, than India does not need America help.

GOD ... above 3x nations can design domestic A.C or LPH / air-defence DDG / long-range anti-aircraft missiles / AIP or Nuclear subs, and i think now their air-defence DDGs more than Indian kolkata class. Just look current Indian Navy, how many ships come from foreign or built in foreign nation ? My suggestion is India still has a long way to go ... just tell me where stronger than Japan Navy, quality or quantity ?

The big question is not whether India will have the CATOBAR carrier. It is whether India can sustain a large carrier fleet even with help from US or Europe.
Looking at India's economy, its infrastructure, its learning institutions, India do not have what it take to maintain and sustain even a credible air force or a low speed train transport system let alone a carrier group.

But India wants to be recognized as a superpower before building up its foundations and capabilities, so India spends and spend and struggles and struggles on its nuclear ballistic missiles, importing advance fighter jets and even keeping a decrapitated aircraft carrier floating.

Very astute observation. India is like a builder that tries to build its building taller and taller without ensure the foundation is solid. It's all going to crumble and fall.

Yes it's all about comprehensive national strength in tech reserves, industrialization (and/or supply chain integration capability) and finances.
