Look at Indian democracy, Gilani tells Pak

u gyz misunderstood Gilani here..all he wanted to say was " look at Indian democracy..they keep electing the same corrupt politician year after year, they always forget the scams and move on..u should learn from them."

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hum logon ka dil hi itna bada hai, sach bolne wala dushman hi kyun na ho saath dete hain fir chahe woh pados desh ka PM hi kyun na ho :D

Democracy is the only system for a country like India,We owe it and are proud of it despite all it's shortcoming's :smokin:

Yea look at Indian democracy. 60 years ago, Nehru promised the Kashmiri people a referendum and they are still waiting for it to this day.

And india also has corrupt politicians. You don't need democracy to succed, just look at China.

You ruined it mate. Didn't need to bring Kashmir in this but anyways since you already have, let's see.

According to UN resolution 'India would retain a minimum military presence and "the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir will be made in accordance with the will of the people expressed through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the United Nations." The ceasefire was enacted on 31 December 1948.'

The Indian and Pakistani governments agreed to hold the plebiscite, but Pakistan did not withdraw its troops from Kashmir, thus violating the conditions for holding the plebiscite. In addition, the Indian Government distanced itself from its commitment to hold a plebiscite.

You know what they say. "Taali ek haath se nahi bajti." You didn't withdraw your troops so plebesite. Who knows the plebesite result might have favored you had you withdrawn your forces but oh well. Everything happens for a reason. :)

thats great mr pm uhuh when is the army coming to kill you again? i am just asking a question that people are asking or when will you go to jail or die from a painful disease? i am just asking a question people are asking?:p:P the difference is they dont have a corrupt b@S$%D like you but we have and that guy wants to save his @##..... yes they have democracy and we are going for it we are electing imran khan to take your corrupt \@#$ down but warning if he fails to deliver too then people will ask for a long army control

How's Indian Democracy any different than that of Pakistan? Unless of course we're talking about Civilian Supremacy. Which actually is a very good thing, but Ultimately it all breaks down to what your average Joe gets out of it, instead of ruling elite.

Almost laughable. Democracy is not just votes and power. if you think about it that way you would find no difference between even American democracy and Pakistani democracy.

You have to have some great personalities to set standards/values to the democracy or kind of democracy in its the initial stages. Later on the people should more or less follow these standards with time and after a good century or two, you ll probably end up having a real democracy, i.e., if it didn't turn into a corporatocracy or something equivalent.

that's why Indian democracy is still considered flawed. You need time.

What are you talking about? I said Gilani's such statement can be interpreted as an indication to Military to back off a little.

Isnt that what Democracy is all about?

About the second boldfaced part, its not what the average joe gets out of it but rather what the ruling elite doesnt get. All parties involved get what they need, not what they want.

Probably right and hopefully a harbinger of more people power than military power.

I can only speak of Pakistani Democracy, and in Pakistan, Civilian Leadership for the most part simply follows the Establishment. So, no, Democracy isn't all about Civilian Supremacy in Pakistan.

There is no problem in giving credit but gilani is saying this to save his a$$ busted badly after TIP report. After doing corruption of 8.5trillion Rupees, with what face is he trying to say this? Sorry Demo Crazy is failed for Pakistan, history is proof.
buddy these are 8500 trillion rupees please correct ur statement ... or are u defending gilani

The only difference is that your military doesn't get involved into politics, thats what PPP wants for Pakistan too but we are not stupid, our Pakistani military are the only ones who will protect the interests of Pakistan.

well indian model should not be followed agreed and chinese model is better one and second pa is/was the institution that use to come to rescue pakistan from corrupt polticans then why doesnt pa establishes chinese model of governing in pakistan once for all . then we would have fair comparsions

But Pakistan has a nacent democracy, marred by years of dictatorial rule. India has seen a vibrant 60+ years of democracy.. cant compare the two.

But, even in the time it has had, has Pakistani democracy shown any maturation? Have we made any progress on accountability, representation, transparency over all these years, or is this just a charade for the feudal monarchies to perpetuate their rule?

Certainly, Imran Khan will be a breath of fresh air but, even if he comes to power, the jury is still out on how much of his administration will be compromised by trojan horses. It sounds drastic, but I have my doubts about whether democracy will ever flourish without disposing of the feudals first.

Democracy is no magic wand.

It works slow and it needs time to mature.

Why is it that I feel that Pakistanis impatienty look for a magic wand that'll rid them of all their trouble once waived, overnight?

Hand to your heart, ask yourself if you guys have truly ever given democracy a real chance.

I'm not talking of half-hearted efforts here.
