ISLAMABAD, Jul. 27 (Gwadar Pro)- LONGi Solar has supplied photovoltaic modules for four solar power plants with a total output of 49.81 megawatts in Pakistan, the Chinese company said on Friday.
Under the project, the largest in the private sector, solar power plants have been installed at 4 different factories of Bestway Cement, the country’s second-largest cement manufacturer. The project will reduce carbon footprint and CO2 emissions by an estimated 54,800 tons per annum, the company said. The LONGi solar panels were selected due to the least cost of electricity, it added.
The project included the installation of two solar power plants of 14.36 MWs and 6.44 MWs in Bestway factories in Haripur district, KP. A 14.21 MW solar power plant has been installed in Bestway factory in Chakwal and a 14.80 MW plant in Bestway factory in Kalar Kahar, Punjab.
Also, LONGi Solar supplied modules for a 500 kW plant in Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab province. The project used Huawei inverters and was completed at a cost of Rs.50 million, a source said.
In recent years, Chinese companies have witnessed increased presence in Pakistan’s solar power sector.
In Hawke’s Bay area of Karachi, a 1.2 MW solar power plant was inaugurated with Huawei’s inverters and solar panels provided by China’s Trina Solar.
In KP, Zonergy Solar Development Pakistan has installed a 70.3 kW On-Grid solar plant for an outlet of Canteen Stores Department (CSD) of Pakistan Army in Kohat district. The company also installed a 315 kW solar power plant for National Logistics Cell (NLC) in Rawalpindi at a cost of Rs. 25 million, an official of the company told Gwadar Pro.
The company is the installer of the country’s largest solar plant in the government sector, the 300 MW Quad-i-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur district, Punjab.
