Lok Sabha approves FDI in retail, rejects opposition motion

SP and BSP walked out because they wanted to save UPA government. Failing to pass retail fdi in lok sabha means government does not have enough no in parliament.
One side BSP,SP sais that they are against this FDI in retail and on other side they just walked out. If a party choose to their interest over country interest then Such type of party should be ban.

....congress has a magic mantra called CBI for people disagreeing with them. BSP (Taj Corridor case) & SP (disproportionate asset case).

...Real question to be asked is ..... when India allowed FDI in retail what did we get in return ?

...or should I be asking what did Sonia ji get in return ?

Thing is very simple. They ll not let fall UPA before 2014. On other hand side arvind ll cut bjp vote, all parties ll oppose modi. and congress ll try to get seat above 120. In such case all major parties like SP.BSP,LEFT,MAMTA etc ll support congress to keep bjp away from center.
at same time SP,BSP are planning to get max seat so they can put pressure on new government.

So if we get UPA3, what can we expect ? well more corruption not by congress only but from other state parties also. They ll try to move their black money ll try to convert this money in white money. Sonia already has everything.

Only 1 danger to them is Modi. That guy has done great job in Gujrat. He deserves one chance in center also.

A very important decision has been taken.

Not completely true, especially in case of India

Maybe true in case of some strategic cases like Afghan, BD, pak issues. But not on domestic issues.
If u see, a good scheme of direct cash transfer was bought on. It was a really good one, eliminate corruption.
But BJP opposed it saying, elections as a reason and wanted complete ban on that scheme fa about 6 months. But EC postponed it in oly 2 states.
This shows their intent of opposing anything, even if good

.
I strongly feel that there should be a law forbidding MPs to walk out. If SP and/or BSP members voted for FDI- that would have been fine, if they voted against it- that would have been fine also, but what message are they sending to the nation by walking out?

Why do these guys even compete in elections? The whole point of an election is to have a bunch of people decide national policies, if you elect people who won't contribute to any national policy (whether by opposing or supporting) then why vote in the first place?

I may be mistaken, but I am sensing some electricity between Lal - oo and Su - sh - ma.

Only 32 % of Indians have bank accounts. You can bet the 68% who dont have bank account are the actual poor who need the cash transfer.

How exactly is the congress going to transfer cash ? and to whom ?

Mate, I m sorry to say but u don't understand Economics of Politics (I don't understand either ), I would like to combine my point with what Chinese Dragon said in another thread. I honestly think that this cash transfer scheme is not good for India. Let's take an example:

suppose a thing cost Rs. 10, now to the poor GOI was giving a subsidy of Rs. 3, but he still had to work hard for those extra Rs. 7, now when Govt. is directly giving this Rs. 3 to the poor, if we add this to other subsidies transferred into cash, the whole amount would be pretty tempting for the poor & he will think that he is getting free cash from the Govt. & will become sort of lazy since now he is getting direct cash & not that invisible discount from the GOI, his whole budget for his home will be in jeopardy, since now he is not working that hard for that extra Rs. 7.

+ GOI will always give only Rs. 3 (with minor changes) in direct cash but we all know that Inflation keeps on increasing, so with time that Rs. 3 will almost account to nothing.

Added to this the entire PDS system that is in place will be dismantled since now there will be direct cash transfers.

+ How do u think it can reduce corruption, when the money will now be directly in the hands of Govt. workers that have to forward it to the poor/needy, if they doesn't pass it on??? remember the NREGA scams & NRHM scam in UP??

Maybe we are on the verge of another big scam.

What BJP objected to was a complete valid point, they were not objecting to the scheme as such but to the direct cash given to the voters in garb of this scheme when crucial elections are going on, direct cash can't be given as per poll-code.

For sake of double digit growth 51% FDI is allowed in India ,if we aren't attain that goal means 100% FDI will be allowed great policy keep it up. Here most of them talking about FDI in China , first try understand fact china didn't allowed FDI 100% in one go , initially they allowed upto 20% then 35% and they evaluated results periodically for a decade. But our case is not like China even our politician is highly corrupted and judicial system(don't forget PESICO case)is too weak in that scenario such decision is nothing but a suicidal.

Had a chance to chat with guy some 6 months ago... His mentality has not changed a bit.

Oops. I thought that such schemes are for NREGA or MGRHS for which people work for 100 days in a year salary are paid directly to their accounts. So in a way removing corruption. Had a detailed reading on cash transfer just now.

But one thing you have said have stressed my point. People are getting lazy. Govt is providing 20kg of free rice (which was 1/kg before) so these guys are not working, when they get everything free. Free stoves, LPG, tv, cable connections, mixies, grinder, refrigerator, laptops as freebies.
As a result labour prices have increased dramatically and small landlords are unable to farm their lands. Labourers demand high price for their work, as there is no compulsion for their work. And when they earn money, they waste it by drinking, gambling etc.

Only 32 % of Indians have bank accounts. You can bet the 68% who dont have bank account are the actual poor who need the cash transfer.

SBI is entrusted with the task of providing and starting free accounts.

..so far 138 million Aadhar card is supposed to have been issued costing 7730 million Rupees. That works out to almost 56 million Rupees per Aadhar card or 1 million USD per Aadhar card.

As this rate, for 1.2 billion people, GoI will spend 1.2 billion $ for just issuing Aadhar Cards.

Only 11.5 % of the population has been covered under Aadhar of which majority has been in cities. People like me have applied for Aadhar card almost 1.5 years back but have not received any card. Of course, now the GoI has my finger print and my Iris print which was collect by private agencies and confidentiality of data is left to God.

I have no means of know if my data was sold to global companies who wanted Indian samples of finger prints and Iris prints for their own research or surveys.....if you start thinking about these things ...its scary as hell.
