LHC annuls new UCs


Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court Friday annulled establishment of new union councils and their headquarters by Punjab Delimitation Authority during the process of delimitation for upcoming local government polls in the province.

A number of voters and candidates of different UCs had filed the petition.
The petitioners had submitted that the delimitation authority acted beyond its jurisdiction by creating new UCs and their headquarters.

They said the authority did not take up their appeals against flaws in delimitation process and decided the matter ex-parte (one sided).

Creation of new UCs by the authority was a violation of section 11 (3) of Punjab Local Government Act, said the petitioners.
They further said that the law empowered provincial government to make new UCs.

A law officer, however, said that the new UCs were made in view of the increasing population.
After hearing both sides, the judge declared new UCs as null and void for being without lawful authority.

Moreover, the LHC sought detailed reply from the Election Commission of Pakistan on a petition challenging phase vise local bodies’ elections in the province.
Pakistan Justice Party had filed the petition and pointed out that the Punjab government wanted phase vise elections and, therefore, schedule of election had been issued.

The petitioner said that the schedule had been issued only in those areas from the ruling party had won the general elections while in the areas from where they could not win, the schedule had not been issued.
It was malafide act of the government, he said.

He prayed the court to set aside the phase vise elections of the local governments in Punjab.

After hearing initial arguments, the court issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan and the Punjab government to submit replies by Sept 11.

joke isnt it all this, the govt is not sincere, and the courts just complacent to it... 7-8 years and counting, no local bodies in Punjab/Sind.

They have conducted lb polls much before Punjab. Shabana was in power for more then 7 years now and he have always find an excuse to delay it . It's very shameful that instead of criticising him u r acting like a perfect slave and attacking PTI . Very shameful

you know the problem with our educated youth, they don't understand spoken language or written language. how did I attack PTI you genius of 2015 class? What else has PTI done in KPK other than right of information bill and now LB polls. You think these two developments will put food on the table for families. Any other improvement in quality of life, NAB is coming to KPK also, as per Dr Shahid masood they have a list of newly elected Nazims in PTI "LB election"

Well it's army who is making safe . Nothing to do with pmln .

THIS is not a credit that Noon should take...It goes to the army and should stay with the army!

As for prosper its debateable...Never in our history did the textile industry have to shut down never did anyone waste money in sustaining the railway and PIA ...no amount of money can save the corrupt!

Never in our history did a power station run for 3 days before shutting down and that too ran overly expensive ...lets not even talk about the tens of millions which these stations were overcharged as compared to the documented price! There is a thread running...

Now if that happened in Canada...even 1 of this lets not even take all of it...NO ONE would vote for that party!

Its was same Army with different general, it is the same Pakistan with a different political govt.
why be selective and only give credit to army only, wouldnt hurt to appreciate something in someone and maybe it will give them courage to do more even if they are not doing it now. ANP, PPP, MQM are against the operation, do you think army can still continue to do it if PMLN joins those three.

Safety credit would go to PMLN when they tame those cops!
Safety credit would go to them when they tame them judges so that criminals stay in jail and are not bailed out on prebail BS or stuff like lost evidence
But things ARMY does kindly give credit where it is due not shine it on someone who cant do what he should be doing within his area (cops/ judges/ justice system cleaning)
