Locally-made Television dominating Bangladesh market: Survey

@Bilal9

The following video pretty much shows everything apart from the chips being designed and made from scratch for Walton TVs. They ditched the import of the 4K Chinese panel and use their own now:

Regrettable that a BD'shi even doubts the capabilities of this company that is now exporting to both the USA and Europe.

Yes - absolutely.

@UKBengali bhai Thanks for posting this. Some Bangladeshis being non-technical - have no idea about the amount of investment Walton has made in high-tech manufacturing processes, including LED/LCD panel manufacturing. They just showed some clean room panel processes in this rather short video. I am sure there are many things they have excluded due to trade secrecy reasons.

Like I said, this company is well situated to penetrate markets globally. I am so glad they had the backbone to take the bold initiatives they took.
bengla congratulations, i think bengla maybe the small asian tiger in the future. i can imagine like japan or south korea.

Bhai the word is "Bangla". :-)

But still early days to call ourselves anything great. In comparison to many other countries - our achievements pale. Let us see where the future goes.

We should be humble and not toot our own horn. Work hard quietly and talk less.

Thank you for your kind words brother.

I think at this stage if BD can try to emulate Malaysia that would be good going. Japan and South Korea are in another league entirely.

Yes they kept a lot of it hidden but more than enough to show they do not just assemble from imported components.

Walton's R&D should take a leap forward as they are now around 1 billion US dollars in revenue per annum and growing fast, and the company seems to be to a non-business person myself run by some very capable people.

The big advantage of Walton is that the internal BD market is actually quite large at 165 million population and so they have the cushion of the home market in order to grow to a mature level before they are reliant too much on exports. That is something that neither Taiwanese or Korean companies could take advantage of.

Walton's management is capable, but they have also retained foreign people in key posts, such as the marketing director. That IMHO is a master-stroke.

About Korean situation - it is a bit different from Taiwan. Taiwan though rich, is tiny in population.

Korean population right now is 51 Million (less than a third of ours) but almost anyone in Korea right now can afford a 42" LCD TV - which is not the case in Bangladesh. But sometimes electronics is even more expensive in Korea compared to than, say - the US. These High Value (High GDP per capita) Asian markets (ASEAN member countries) are ripe for Walton to explore at some point, in addition to US/EU.

I hope Chinese brands also assemble and re-export from Bangladesh to serve global markets. Bangladesh has quite high potential to become assembly point for electronics, since so many companies are assembling electronics locally and labor rate is so low (one-third that of China and one-half that of India).

TV's and cellphones also need programming talent, and Bangladesh can help quite a bit there - we are already doing software development for many Chinese and Japanese companies. Eventually all TV's and cellphones will need to have options to localize in local market languages.

I meant when S Korea was industralising their companies had to go for exports as the home market simply could not given them the revenues they needed to keep pushing sales and their technology forward.

Even by 2030, Walton forecasts that only 25% of its revenues will come from exports and 75% from the home market.

COUNTRIES LIKE OURS ARE VERY DUMB BHEGAIRAT N LAZY MINDED,.
they have the weather, animals, the market the whole lot, except corrupt leaders whos influence spreads on the ppl. They are so backward and inferior colonial slaves that if one of their own comes with idea or makes a product they wont buy but if western country offers a dumb idea or rip off product they rush to accept this slavery. Another bad attribute is to put others down if they are succeeding or dont buy their products out of jealousy.
create a proper trade union, we can have asian union trade, education, healthcare, one military etc.
no instead we got gora tattey lickers, they always say oh we cant trust outsider pakistanis or they say they are under influence of western government but this not completely true we in the west get kicked in the teeth so we are reminded who we are while those born abroad want to imitate west without experiencing.

I am hopeful that things are changing both in BD and Pakistan - Imran Khan gives me some confidence that at least he wants to do the right thing.

Bhai to be honest it always comes from a hate for underclass people which is a proof of the caste-ist mindset so common in Indian subcontinent. It has even polluted the mindset of Muslims in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

I was listening to one guy's thoughts I recently posted in the chill thread here, and he commented that there were beggars and rickshaw pullers that came to Jumma prayers in his local Masjid on Fridays and they were afraid to come pray with upper and upper middle class folks out front. Kuch sharminda tha...but you know tareeqa is that in the katar (row) - you cannot keep any gap while performing salah. They were asked to come forward but they never did.

This is our class system in subcontinental Islam (Ashraf/Atraf) and we should be ashamed we have this value in 2021 and have not leveled the playing field.

This is why we never think about the poor and create jobs and roti-rooji for them, as opposed to freely investing in real estate for rich people, to help them hide their ill-gotten millions in black money. This is unfortunately true for both our countries.
