Locally Built Oil Tanker For Bangladesh Navy

Nicely done Bangladesh.

Yes it is kind of off topic, but it is not bad to know some history about our past, and why such a name was chosen for this tanker ship.

I try to give people a sense of history, whenever I find the opportunity. Can you guess where Khan Jahan Ali was from originally and what he may have looked like?

Where was he from and what did he look like?

Why is it important to know that?

This is good news. But i would like to know has Bd won any international orders. Shipbuilding could be the next big thing for BD.

Remember the joy in the forum when Doel initative was taken? What happened to it? Competing against Chinese ships where they get so much subsidies, would be next to impossible. We really need a shipping minister with adequate knowledge and we the banking sector really needs to help the sector. Unlike garments, the shipping industry is much more volatile than the garments sector and most of the countries who you are seeing leading the shipping industry gets significant amount of help from the their government. With 17% interest rate from the private banks, we are greatly disadvantaged. If you go through two Anandya and Western Marines websites about the orders they have received so far, mostly are from local buyers. An industry of this size won't last long with only local buyers.
To help the sector, the govt net need to provide a safety net specially now, when the entire industry is said to be at the worst in the modern era. And off course, a feasible interest rate. To give you an example, a brand new ships even a small of less than 20,000 dwt would cost around 10-20 million dollar. Now imagine a 17% interest on that, which doubles when you don't miss your repayments.

The same problem facing by the garments owners.
Banking sector is a disaster for our country. If u keep money in the banks u will get more than 6% interest. Now what country gives that. No country gives or takes that high amount of interests.
But a shipping minister will be too soon as we had to wait long to get a railway minister.
There are so many steps going on into the gov to increase this sectors.
This two shipyard along with others will surely get some way to solve these disputes.
No gov help was there when they started all this.
So loosing hope isnt good.
Some statistic shows that other shipbuilding nations cant take any further orders. So BD will be the only option for buyers. So

Good stuff bro. Bd economy growing at over 6%. One strong leadership over the next 10 yrs and BOOM BOOM. No one will ever call this nation backwards. Manufacaturing and shipbuilding have always been a big part of nations development.

Yes we need strong leadership. But cant tolerate political anarchy.
I like this gov for holding the nation forward. Hope that next gov do the same.
Corruption is the main problem of our country but seems like there will be no problem like this in the future.
