it will replace an old tanker and it will be called BNS Khan Jahan Ali .

Khan Jahan local ruler and celebrated sufi saint. Khan Jahan (popularly known as Khan Jahan Ali) was entitled Ulugh Khan and Khan-i-Azam and flourished at khalifatabad (Bagerhat) in the first half of the fifteenth century AD when the Later Iliyas Shahi Sultan nasiruddin mahmud shah was ruling at gaur.

Khan Jahan, a noble under the Tughlaqs, seems to have come to Bengal just after the sack of Delhi (1398) by Timur. He acquired the forest area of the Sundarbans as jagir (fief) from the sultan of Delhi and subsequently from the sultan of Bengal. He cleared up the dense forest in the Sundarban area to set up human settlements, and soon got the Masjidkur and adjacent areas on the eastern bank of the Kobadak suitable for habitation through the untiring efforts of his deputies Burhan Khan and Fateh Khan. Local tradition ascribes to Khan Jahan the first Muslim colonisation of a part of greater Jessore and Khulna districts. The titles Ulugh Khan and Khan-i-Azam of Khan Jahan, as inscribed on his tomb, suggest that he was not an independent freelancer but that he owed fealty most probably to the sultan of Gaur. He ruled over the pargana of khalifatabad stretching up to Naldi to the north of Narail.

Khan Jahan was a great builder. He founded some townships, built mosques, madrasahs and sarais, roads, highways and bridges, excavated a large number of dighis in the districts of greater Jessore and Khulna. Besides his fortified metropolis of Khalifatabad (modern Bagerhat) he built three townships, such as Maruli Kasba, Paigram Kasba and Bara Bazar. He is said to have built a highway from Bagerhat to Chittagong, a twenty-mile long road from Samantasena to Badhkhali, and a road running from Shuvabara to Daulatpur in Khulna. The most notable of his architectural monuments are shatgumbad mosque (c 1450) at Bagerhat, masjidkur mosque (c 1450) at village Masjidkur, his own tomb (1459) near Bagerhat and a single-domed mosque attached to his tomb. Of the large number of dighis and ponds excavated by him the most notable are the Khanjali Dighi (1450) near his tomb and Ghoradighi (measuring 1500´x750´) to the west of Shatgumbad Mosque. Khan Jahan introduced a new architectural style in his buildings, which is named after him. The Khan Jahan style is seen in a group of buildings in the greater districts of Khulna, Jessore and Barisal. Khan Jahan who might have been an officer of the Gaur sultan betrays in his buildings an affection for the Tughlaq architecture of Delhi. This amply suggests his acquaintance with the Tughlaq style of architecture and perhaps his earlier involvement in Tughlaq administration.

Khan Jahan died on 25 October 1459 (27 Zilhajj 863 AH) and was buried in the tomb built by himself. He is revered by people and numerous people visit his tomb. Ananda Shipyard builds oil tanker for Navy

Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd., pioneer in shipbuilding in the country, has built a fuel replenishing oil tanker of world class standard for Bangladesh Navy.

The first ever ship built by the company for Bangladesh Navy was formally launched on Monday at its shipyard at Meghnaghat, Shonargaon in Narayangonj district.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Farid Habib ndc psc, chief of naval staff, Rear Admiral Awrangazeb Chowdhury ndc psc., assistant chief of naval staff, Dr. Abdullahel Bari, chairman of Ananda Shipyard, Nahid Nigar, deputy managing director and other senior officials were also present.

This Oil tanker ordered at a price of Tk 720 million is expected to be delivered in June 2013.
Through the launching, Bangladesh as well as Ananda Shipyard have entered into the golden era of Shipbuilding. Bangladesh Navy shall be able to develop a very strong fleet in near future as domestic shipyard has achieved the capacity of building Naval Ships.

Bangladesh government is procuring this tanker by its own fund and Janata Bank is supporting Ananda Shipyard with financial facilities for construction.
This tanker is able to replenish fuel to naval ships on both sides while all of them are steaming in sea at both peace and war situations.

The ship is powered with 4000 HP (Horse Power) and can move at 24 km/hour in adverse sea condition. It is a 270 feet long tanker can carry 2400 ton of fuel.

Yes it is kind of off topic, but it is not bad to know some history about our past, and why such a name was chosen for this tanker ship.

I try to give people a sense of history, whenever I find the opportunity. Can you guess where Khan Jahan Ali was from originally and what he may have looked like?

Remember the joy in the forum when Doel initative was taken? What happened to it? Competing against Chinese ships where they get so much subsidies, would be next to impossible. We really need a shipping minister with adequate knowledge and we the banking sector really needs to help the sector. Unlike garments, the shipping industry is much more volatile than the garments sector and most of the countries who you are seeing leading the shipping industry gets significant amount of help from the their government. With 17% interest rate from the private banks, we are greatly disadvantaged. If you go through two Anandya and Western Marines websites about the orders they have received so far, mostly are from local buyers. An industry of this size won't last long with only local buyers.
To help the sector, the govt net need to provide a safety net specially now, when the entire industry is said to be at the worst in the modern era. And off course, a feasible interest rate. To give you an example, a brand new ships even a small of less than 20,000 dwt would cost around 10-20 million dollar. Now imagine a 17% interest on that, which doubles when you don't miss your repayments.
