without ambition and pain then you are just a zombie. being paralyzed by fear/arrogance and hoping that clinging to the status quo will save you is what led to 700k dead in that shining beacon of no politics with 100% pragmatism while less than 5k dead in supposed 100% political, no pragmatism land where everything is for ego.

True. But as with everything else, there is always a limit. Too much ambition burns. So does too little of it. It is perfectly fine if the one who got burnt is himself. It is pure evil when he is not the one who got burnt. That is why I admire individual ambition but always fear ambitious politicians who are more likely making others burn.
