What ever happening in Srilanka is a game and there are pro India(democratic) and Pro china(military) groups there in Srilanka and India will eventually triumph.

Let those Chinese invest in Island nation and India will neutralise Chinese influence in one move

Politics is a different game

Sri lanka is more powerful than india.

indians are like cannon fodder, we have experience with taken them out in 2009.

loooool Sri Lanka is more powerful than India?

Are you talking about Cricket team? are you?

Your whole country is smaller than metropolitan area of some Indian cities. It shouldn't be too difficult for such a small country to progress in leaps and bounds. But inefficiency of government and widespread of corruption has made it hard for such a tiny country to progress freely.

Sri Lanka is just small stratified sample of South India. It doesn't matter what you guys do, you can never escape Indian shadows. Doesn't matter if you call China or whatever to Indian ocean.

You mean untouchable area where the untouchable people live? No, we do have poor and undeveloped area but we do not have such hell as you.

Pakistanis have this tendency to cheer lead for their masters :/

India is in no position to be of any useful 'help' to china.

Given a decade I think China would be in a better position to cream india

So thats where the fault lies.......Show some psychiatrist. Please, u need him urgently. :)

That analogy is incorrect..Sri Lanka is more diversified and different to South India in both social out look and developement..Unlike many jingiostic posters here who seems to be arm chair experts i have travelled in South Asia widely and have first hand experience that reading it off weekly news magazines and forums

And yes ideally the island should be far ahead in terms of development given it's size..But the terrrorist conflict dragged back the country almost 3 decades..While a country like India can sustain it's economic growth through numerous conflics internal or external,Given it's sheer geographical and demographical size,For a smaller country like Lanka it can be devastating

You need to remember in 1977 just before the conflict was shoved down our throats by the regional powers of the cold war..The island's GDP was only second to Japan in Asian terms..Just imagine where it would be now if not for the wreckage that happend since then

The policies followed by Srilankan Govt. at that time also to be blamed.

Not just the successive govts but all politicians from both spectrums were.. The conflict was not a etho/religious one as it is made out to be but started off as a class struggle..To be highjacked by those powers of vested interests.... Both sides had short sighted leaders of the ruling class that did not want there status quo challenged by the general population

So where does India stand with respect to HDI ??
