i have this gun (type 56) in excellent conditions, the accuracy is very good and built quality is flawless

Yes which ones were used? There are many variants. The man in photo is holding No4 Mk1 or Mk2. That is same which i have also. Previous ones appear to be No2

Jungle Carbine No.5 was also issued... I have one in perfect condition...
 
I think we can safely assume that majority of them were manufactured at Ishapore
Yes for your side. On our side, these were manufactured in Pretoria from 1930s onwards; but earliers came from Uk. Mine was built in Pretoria.

Here they were taken out of service in the 50s and replaced with R1/FNs; later R4s/Galils then became the standard bearer.

For Ishapore; they were still using the No2/3 design but switched to 7.62x51 a good move to standardise on the round. Still for what we use .303 for is more a ceremonial rifle and a general purpose hunting rifle.

Anyway, back to normal thread, I digressed.
