Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha Will Be The Next Head Of SPD

That doesn't invalidate his point. Generals are just like any other officers, and have spent their lives working to earn the position they are in. They have spent their lives dedicated to protecting you and me, and I think they deserve these perks.

Please spare me this Patriotic B.S they have spent there lives protecting and building there Bank accounts thats the point you missed conveniently and as far as security of the country is concerned unless you been living under a rock its not exactly a hidden secert.

On this same topic some one said that pasha wanted to leave Pakistan with his family after retiring with his family i guess he didn't do his job or he wouldn't have to run from Pakistan feel free to correct me.

Chairman SPD is highly sensitive job. Gen. Pasha has dozen of failures associated with him as ISI chief.

It will be a death certificate for SPD reputation, if some body like Gen. Pasha heads it. SPD can not afford the such scandalous Gen. to head it.
This is yet another Cake for Gen. Pasha from his Ultimate boss Gen. Kayani.

It seems as if Gen. Kayani and Gen. Pasha are the only wise men left in PA.

Pakistan is like hotel to our greedy generals. They remains in Pakistan as long as they are in job and leave pakistan along with their families for good the moment they retire

there is no such university in west that charges $50,000 a YEAR!!
and one more thing, these people spent 20-30 years of their life to earn these positions! they started their careers as soldiers like every other soldier in the army...

Just for FYI, there are many many universities where cost per year can be $50K... I have first hand experience ...

this trend shuld be ended for sure that every retired general or brg or col becomes a head of gov of private institution do really deserve it :disagree:

With all due respects to Gen Pasha. Year 2011 has revealed so many glaring weaknesses of the ISI that in my view a paradigm shift is needed.

When a team fails, shouldn’t the captain be responsible? Let us start with Osama bin Laden and attack on PNS Mehran. Don’t you think that ISI is partly responsible for the failures?

ISI should be performing the roles of espionage and counter espionage. In my humble opinion ISI activities should include:

Central foreign counter-espionage and liaison with other security services to collate counter-espionage reports from overseas stations.

Gather economic intelligence about our enemies.

Another branch to conduct political covert actions and paramilitary operations in time of war.
Section deliberately passing misleading information to the enemy agencies.

Penetration into the terrorist organizations mainly to gather info about activities of all anti State elements including Islamic terrorists (TTP), sectarian outfits etc., with the objective of thwarting bombing /suicide bombing attempts.

Unfortunately ISI has been too busy trying to create strategic depth in Afghanistan and to target activities of the politicians it considers anti Pakistani. In short ISI activities have become too political and areas which should be the primary targets have been neglected.

This is borne by the glaring intelligence failures such as attack on GHQ, presence of Osam bin Laden in Abbottabad and finally the PNS Mehran. In my book, Gen Pasha as Head of ISI for the last 4 years must stand up like a man and accept the blame for intelligence failure.

Giving a top job should be a reward for the good services performed. Pray tell me should Gen Pasha be rewarded for the failures during his tenure as the boss of ISI?

I would think that new Head of SPD should be an honest and capable general whether retired or not. But then in Pakistan, to be good at your job is a disqualification and all rewards are based on cronyism.
