Make Karachi an autonomous region and the majority of Pakistan’s problems will be resolved. Pakistan has intentionally undermined its economic engine in order to massage the ego of the Bhuttos. This is a price Pakistan can no longer pay.

It's not just Karachi, but Sialkot, Faisalabad and perhaps some others too. The whole of Pakistan is relying on these specific regions to keep the ship afloat. If you break the provinces down to smaller districts, you'll get a lot of visibility of who's giving and who's taking. That way, you can build a proper economic plan to up-equip 'taker regions' so that they can become 'givers' down the line, while at the same time growing the economic output of existing 'givers.'

Ultimately, you'll want every region to be a 'giver' so that the federal gov't can properly invest in a national healthcare system, education, senior care, and (not least) defence.

I was reading your article on the CH-4 drones and the siloed planning that’s impacting the drone procurement process. If the military, the supposedly most competent arm of the state, is this dysfunctional, then you can imagine how bad things are elsewhere.

Unfortunately, Pakistan doesn’t act until a calamity strikes. This is true for the development of nuclear weapons following the 1971 war and the states ability to take the TTP serious after the APS massacre. Something unbearable has to happen for the state to act. For issues like incompetence, the state has been conditioned to accept, so change is unlikely.

It tells a lot about where the support plmn enjoys in Lahore comes from. Lahore business community and trader associations have long been facilitated and given protection for not paying taxes against their support for plmn. That is why I said plmn is not a political party it is a combination of all mafias and criminals, under the motto 'khao air khilao'. And some of us can't figure out the reason why Pakistan always ends up cash strapped and on the brink of default in all their tenures.
