I thin Biryani is said to have originated in Hyderabad in Souhtern India. SOmeone with mroe knowledge can correct me if I am wrong...

And what Arabic ancestors? There are no Arab descendents in India today as far as I am aware...

Biryani as we know it basically a Persian Rice dish high on Indian Spices :D .Biryani or beryā(n as it is known in Persia is (fried before cooking)..

well i was brought up in such a way i was exposed very little to the society and Pakistani cuture , cuisine etc :ashamed:
Parents are just too posessive and protective :blink:
I don't know what loadshedding feels like :D never ate Gol gappas on the street :D used public transport only once or twice in my life

If you don't know loadshedding then you are not a Pakistani :lol: And where exactly is that corner of Pakistan where there is no loadshedding please inform so I can occupy it :D

Now here is a little secret and twist.

As expected Biryani is preferred choice of masses here. But do you know what we actually call Biryani is not biryani (al least the most popular versions) at all in its literal meaning ;)

what about jelabi...and samosa....do pakistani have it..
and what about gol-gappe.....girls over here eat them a lot....:lol:

All of it especially Gol gappas and since I love spicy food thats one thing I love. Samosa is also quite common but I have rarely had jalebi. The last time I had it was on someone's wedding :lol:

nope . Biryani has roots in persia but the Biryani famous in South Asia is a different beast with all those wonderful spices and our special Basmati Rice :)

There is plenty of shawarma, try Syrian shawarma one day also. :D

Much of our food is a combo of rice and chicken, or rice and meat, or both with soup and vegetables. I can show a few plates if I could find some. :)
Shawarma, Falafel, Al Kabsa are my fav arabian food ! last ramzan i tried Camel Steaks but nothing extraordinary ;)

As any indian-pakistani-Bangladeshi who knows his food, must be aware of Age Old Rivalry and debate between Pulao and Biryani.

So Guys and girls lets sort it out among ourselves .. which is better Pulao or Biryani.

hey marsha,biryani has persian origin right? :D

samosa was my favourite when i was young. :lol:
