Leopard attacks leave Islamabad villagers fearing for their lives

.
They took away its food and territory but are afraid because it needs to eat.

Please let the animal eat, they are near extinction so are worth the sacrifice of a few Pakistanis a year; and unlike the Pakistani population that breeds like rabbits these graceful animals are having trouble breeding due to habitat loss.

So either vacate its territory or sacrifice to it.. you know you’re going to be making more Pakistanis less than a month after mourning period ends.

.
yara wtf cant this people hunt. get a gun and some meat and set trap. if thsi was america/britain you will them lining up for hunting and bring thier young kidd to learn.

If this was US or UK you would be prosecuted for killing animals and already in jail. Do you their strict laws?

Elimination of leopards have caused an explosion in population of wild boars and monkeys

encroachment upon natural habitat of animals is causing this .
You mess with one variable and the entire echo system falls apart

licensed hunt it was money over ethics that was protected species.

I think govt issue license for hunting of old Maarkhoor. This actually help them grow because the old male cannot have babies and old male kinda own the group and don't let younger ones to do that either. In short the population doesn't grow until the older male is there.

That is the case in India too. Deforestation removes habitats for deers and the like, which are the prey for these leopards.

I think the short-term solution should be a compensate the cattle and goat rearers.

Why did he attack? There is always a reason

He attacked because the forest has seen decrease in the prey animals for the leopards.

And as @Zibago said, decrease in leopards has seen increase in boars ( forest pigs ) and monkeys which probably invade cities.

He's going to regret attacking Homo sapiens.

As far as I know leopards don't kill humans. Watch this vid of Vladimir Putin with a leopard.

Like I've been stressing put a damn size limit on cities, make them grow tall not wide. Would resolve most issues

Anybody would think these people were stealing food from your plate. It is the responsbility of government to maintain forests. When the PM can live in a house he had made on encroached, why can't a small village exist a few km away?

Tall cities have problems with earthquakes. I somehow never liked skyscrapers. The max a house should be tall is two storeys, including the ground floor.

What can instead be done is collect the population of say 10 villages and give them a township, an urban center. This can be done without much deforestation. Land can be taken from agricultural fields and converted to houses. Growing food crops can be done in neighborhood-level Vertical Farms ( of say five storeys ) and Urban Farms. This will need a rethink on how agriculture is done but Urban Farming is already being done in Venezuela. This makes most of the food production self-sustainable at local level.

Pakhtoon yum and @Taimur Khurram , I quote from this article :
India was home to a child named Leopard Boy. He was found back in 1912. His saviors uncovered the truth about this child. He was taken by a leopardess who kept him for about five years. Villagers from the child’s home eventually found the boy.

They killed the leopard and found the young boy. He could not speak and carried himself like a wild leopard. He finally learned how to speak and to walk like a normal person. He eventually passed away like all people but before he died, he became blind from cataracts.

I am quoting that piece because I want to say that leopards don't usually kill humans. And I think in 1912 there was not much thought given to saving wildlife which is why they easily decided to kill the leopardess.

.
Apparently its the heavy snow up in the mountains which is forcing these animals to come down on lower elevations. But they are not snow leapords, not sure what breed they are.

Another one found in Mansehra.

So it all comes down to advancement in farming to yield more food in a less physical area. Unfortunately no nation on earth cares to do research and development of something that benefits human kind. Why do that when u can make weapons to kill each other?
