Spare a moment for the 1.2 million left homeless, for all those forced to live in desperate, unhygienic conditions. Muted by world media, flood victims in Pakistan have fallen off the radar in 2011. Over a week has past and relief has been slow to reach people in the hardest-hit regions of Badin and Thatta in Sindh, Pakistan’s southern province.

regards!

LAHORE: Pakistan Army’s Lahore Garrison dispatched its first consignment of trucks carrying relief items worth Rs 5.5 million on Saturday from Fortress Stadium to Kurram Agency in FATA where they are to be distributed amongst displaced persons.
According to a handout, this was part of an overall national effort to rehabilitate the families displaced as a result of combatting terrorism. It is estimated that around 30,000 families were displaced during the recent operation against terrorists in the troubled areas of Kurram Agency in FATA. The relief items include tents, bedding and utensils, among other things. Philanthropists and civil welfare organisations have been asked to join hands with the civil administration and Pakistan Army to help in their relief efforts. The Lahore Corps has established a relief camp at Fortress Stadium for the collection and smooth delivery of relief goods to people displaced by operations against terrorists in the Tribal Areas.
