Learn from China: Malaysian ex-PM tells India

China became a central state in 300 BC. india became a central state in the 1950's. Shining india is 2250 years behind China. They'll never catch up to us.

I completely agree with Mahathir here. BUt it has to take place AFTER this slave government of imperialists is bunted out of the country. Otherwise we've had it.

the dic$ measuring contest goes all around these days.
There is no limit on learning and its a life long process.
Both INDIA and CHINA are learning from each other and our leaders do not posses the amount of ego that we have here.
The Leaders need not even expose what they are learning from each other model but sure they are learning.

And to sane members, if there is some thing that we have to tell that we have this model which may work for each other, describe such models to the rest of the bloggers.
That will be a constructive conversation rather than mud-slinging at each other and boosting about each others past.

One question.

Which country has a better standard of living and economy?

That should answer you well enough.

China is a much bigger land with a much bigger population.

If central governance can work for them, it can work for you.

But everyone needs to set aside their differences and what not.. and consider themselves has equal citizens of the country. That might help.

Chinese people are much more united than Indian people. You could learn that from them.

but 90% of them are Han chinese, so there is more uniformity in China then in India, and everyone speaks the same language,
in India, if you crose 50 KM
you will hear a new language..so the federal structure is needed

.

Han Chinese is an artificial construct.

everyone speaks the same language
Everyone do not speak the same language. Only about 70% of the population speaks Mandarin, even as a second language. Shanghaiese and Cantonese are spoken as primary languages by hundreds of millions of people each.

Shanghai's entire population is 18 million. Guangdong's entire population is 100 million. Half of each are outsiders who immigrated in the past 30 years. Try again pal.

However, we do know that 40% of Koreans do not speak South Korean. North Korean's Korean and South Korean's Korean are not even the same word in Chinese and could be considered totally different languages.

A lot of delegations of researchers, diplomats and state ministers from India do take periodical trips to China to learn. A delegation of farmers from Karnataka has been to China, followed by the CM, also the Energy minister of Karnataka made a trip to China to learn.

.
If that's what you feel is best for your country, I respect that.

Who said I agree with China a 100%?

Every country has it's flaws, no one is perfect. Even India has it's flaws.

But more than anything else, I really admire East Asia's economic performance (China, Singapore, Hong Kong). It's in their culture, a strong business mindset.

In Malaysia there's a phrase, "If you want to be rich, follow the China-man". If you mixed with Chinese people in real life, you would know.

But sorry Chinese brothers, gotta say.. Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter are the best inventions of the internet. You're missing out :P

Facebook is a CIA/FBI database. Twitter is controlled by the CIA and US military. Youtube has severe limits on uploaded movies. So all 3 are banned, and we made our own versions: Renren, Weibo, Youku.

If you called for a reb|ellion agai|nst the US g-ov-ern-ment (in here the electronic walls have ears, after our school had a major protest followed by an armed police crackdown) on Facebook, the FBI and CIA will be tracking you. Sorry, the US is a tota|litarian pol ice state. Even I'm scared living here. You can't speak out against the g-ov-ern-ment without risking surveillance, arrest and torture.

Indians needs to learn the best bits about China and leave out the bad ones. I would prefer learning more from the US as well, we share the same ideologies, democracy, multi cultural society and freedom to the people.

:enjoy:

Oooooh, why not go back to your homeland, and peddle your nonsense in a commie school, where it will be well recieved.

i'm just telling you some facts. Maybe you also think that India's monsoon weakening is a natural occurance, and not the work of the US weather control program.

.
India is still a country where the rich can buy votes and the poor are willing to sell. You can even pay to have your opposition threatened or silenced, this not an environment where you can have a true or meaningful democracy. Democracy only flourishes when you have the proper social constructs, without them it could be a hindrance. Even democracy itself is a flawed system, it literally translates into mob rule, which is incompatible with personal liberty, but that's another discussion.

Here in Uk we had cash 4 honours also so by your logic now UK is not democratic?

The whole concept of democarcy is ensuring a free election ie i person = 1 vote now if someone wishes to sell their vote thats their business but that does make the country less democratic.

A lot of other people here might buy the weather BS, not us Indians.. so please don't waste your propaganda time on us.

.
I think you just contradict yourself.

When I first read yours, it seems that you do not like his words of "being less democratic" since you call him a tad crazy.

Well, later, you want Malaysia to follow Singapore's system. Don't you know Singapore's democratic is really a lot less democratic than those in U.S., U.K. and even in India???

Mahathir.

He was a great leader in his prime but his recent statements have been a tad crazy.

This one is 100% spot on though. India could learn from China on the economic model.

But more importantly, I think Malaysia ought to follow Singapore's system. There are so many flaws in our current political and economical system.

Perhaps Mahathir should focus on what is closer to home.
