LEAKED! Covert Media Propaganda Collusion Exposed. british

Previously known as Breakthrough, Zinc has contracted for the UK Home Office to covertly implement media projects propagandizing British Muslims under the auspices of the Prevent de-radicalization initiative. In Australia, Zinc was caught running a clandestine program to promote support for government policies among Muslims.

New leaked documents show Reuters’ and the BBC’s involvement in covert UK FCO programs to effect “attitudinal change” and “weaken the Russian state’s influence,” alongside intel contractors and Bellingcat.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have sponsored Reuters and the BBC to conduct a series of covert programs aimed at promoting regime change inside Russia and undermining its government across Eastern Europe and Central Asia, according to a series of leaked documents.

The leaked materials show the Thomson Reuters Foundation and BBC Media Action participating in a covert information warfare campaign aimed at countering Russia. Working through a shadowy department within the UK FCO known as the Counter Disinformation & Media Development (CDMD), the media organizations operated alongside a collection of intelligence contractors in a secret entity known simply as “the Consortium.”

Through training programs of Russian journalists overseen by Reuters, the British Foreign Office sought to produce an “attitudinal change in the participants,” promoting a “positive impact” on their “perception of the UK.”

“These revelations show that when MPs were railing about Russia, British agents were using the BBC and Reuters to deploy precisely the same tactics that politicians and media commentators were accusing Russia of using,” Chris Williamson, a former UK Labour MP who attempted to apply public scrutiny to the CDMD’s covert activities and was stonewalled on national security grounds, told The Grayzone.

“The BBC and Reuters portray themselves as an unimpeachable, impartial, and authoritative source of world news,” Williamson continued, “but both are now hugely compromised by these disclosures. Double standards like this just bring establishment politicians and corporate media hacks into further disrepute.”

Thomson Reuters Foundation spokesperson Jenny Vereker implicitly confirmed the authenticity of the leaked documents in an emailed response to questions from The Grayzone. However, she contended, “The inference that the Thomson Reuters Foundation was engaged in ‘secret activities’ is inaccurate and misrepresents our work in the public interest. We have for decades openly supported a free press and have worked to help journalists globally to develop the skills needed to report with independence.”

britain wasn't just the pioneers of industrialization, but also espionage and disinformation (in other words the art of convincingly lie). british are increasingly horrified at the prospect of a (Orthodox Christian) Russia emerging as a powerful state that has the ability to challenge and defeat them, if provoked.

Russia (the true Russia, not the bogus Bolshevik Soviet State) on the other hand, has emerged far greater as a responsible state, with power and the intellect to deal with the rotten West, than anyone could have possibly anticipated. Credit should be given where it is due, to not only the Government of Russia, but also to the people of Russia (the majority at least) who have held fast to their way of life and are not getting suckered in by bogus Western way of life.

"Pure Evil"

Every major country is involved is some sort of disinformation campaign. To single out western media is ridiculous, when your own nation probably does similar things.

Its not evil, because geopolitics is amoral. This is par for the course.
Absolutely rubbish. Just becos western media is scam. Don't drag others down. Western and India media are far more shameless in fabrication and lies than any other regions of media.

russia is the ottoman of the east, and Nicholas would be equivalent of the sultan.

Russia, as the same as with Pakistan, would prove to be a gauntlet of justice, if it's people would immerse themselves in Orthodox Christianity. It is the same which is desired and expected of Pakistanis to Islam.

That is true for media sources all over the world - welcome to reality. Let us ban the entire world then...

That is true for the world. Not Pakistani media. Pakistani media is happily willing to destroy its own nation.

Only ban hostile nations and media groups. That is not the entire world.

Western media and their governments project themselves as the 'arbiters of fairness, objectivity, freedom' etc. and they have enormous reach and influence to shape narratives & events, typically both in the country being targeted and the broader world.

The disinformation that comes out of the Western media is therefore far more dangerous than, for example, something that comes out of Pakistan.
Is it? Every media outlet, whether from the west or east, consider themselves to the arbiters of fairness.

While it's true that currently western media has a greater reach, and for good reason, that is likely going to no longer be the case in the coming decades, as more and more nations become rich and powerful.

We're heading towards a multipolar world, and that will naturally affect global media.

My over all point being, its not evil, its simply geopolitics.

You realize you just proved my point, right? Nowhere did we talk about India, so you bringing it up literally proves me right.

Lmao.

Such as India, which is aligned with said Western nations?

The Western media's propaganda, and the associated dangers and risks associated with the influence/leverage it has, cannot be ignored merely on the assumption that at some point in the distant future 'more nations becoming rich and powerful' will be able to offset Western influence, propaganda and destabilization of countries around the world in the pursuit of Western geo-political interests.

The Western media monopoly, and the associated dangers and risks associated with the influence/leverage it has, cannot be ignored merely on the assumption that at some point in the distant future 'more nations becoming rich and powerful' will be able to offset Western influence, propaganda and destabilization of countries around the world in the pursuit of Western geo-political interests.
I'd use China and Russia as examples. Their international outlets have become quite big and popular. Its also not a matter of distant future, its very much near future.

I really do think its a mistake to lump all the "western media" into one category, because it ignores the fact that the "west" is only an loose alliance, which also has competing interests. There is a reason why the French and the US almost never agree on global issues, and why the British also make fun of American news outlets.

There are plenty of articles by the BBC that target the US, and hit pieces by FOX that target Canada.

As for India, India isn't aligned with the west; India is aligned with India, and is using the west. This little arrangement between the US and India isn't gonna last, as India becomes more assertive.

But even ignoring all that I've said, what is it that you think should happen? You can't just ban them, as it would lead to unintended consequences between the nations involved. You can't regulate it, as the regulations will simply be ignored. The only way I can see moving forward is increasing funding of your own platforms. Give PTV more funding, and go on an advertisement run globally. Have them conduct award winning journalistic investigations across the globe like BBC, AJE, and NPR have. Once the audience and trust is built, then you use the platform to counter the propaganda.
