What's new

LCA Navy all set for ski-jump trials at SBTF Goa

They import AL-31F engine and already testing on carrier while we are yet to test on SBTF
The J-15 is a Su-33 with Chinese weapons and radar. It is not a completely new fighter. NLCA's airframe was designed indegenously by India.

China does not got hand in Su-33, They tweaked Su-27 & modify it for naval operations without Russian help in Take off & landing technique from carrier.

Su-33 is the navalized version of Su-27, as is the J-15. The point is that the aircraft is the good old flanker, modified for carrier ops and revamped with Chinese electronics. Our NLCA on the other hand, was designed by Indians in India. I think it's fair to say that outside of Europe/Russia/USA, only India has made a carrier borne fighter.

Apples and oranges really. The J-15 is hardly comparable to the N-LCA/LCA given their respective origins.

They did, but from the Ukraine which also sold them the carrier and supported them to get it ready and so on.

Please buddy, lets not go down the pride route here. We couldn't do it alone, that's why we searched for foreign assistance, ignored the logical Russian choice, dreamed about US partners and ended up with Europeans. And even if we would had made the re-design alone, would it matter in operational terms? Does it make N-LCA somehow as capable as a J15?

Where did I imply that it makes NLCA as good as J-15, or that it makes a difference operationally, or even that it is a matter of pride? All I said was the factual statement that the NLCA was designed by India - which it was, there was no help from any foreign country for the airframe or FBW. The radar and engines are foreign, but the aircraft is Indian.

Those are the facts, and people are free to feel pride or shame about the facts, that's upto them. I only stated facts, not what the emotional response to those facts should be.
