@Akheilos Your fierce determination for human rights is needed here.:-)
I dont get involved in where Indians are in abundance...Coz this is personally an open attack how let me show you:

jizyah tax
Jiyziya is no longer applied

Group worship in private homes is prohibited and monitored
· Oman also monitors sermons in mosques to ensure that imams do not preach political sermons.
This is for Muslims not for non Muslims...

Plus how many peopel barge into Omani homes to check this?

Any figures?

And if it is Contrarian who opened the thread be sure it is relatively biased coz I have given this very poster detailed explanation on jiziya + shariah...Now if he repeats his vomit in every thread what can I say?

inspite of its texts being written 200 years after and the Quran written 90 years after the death of Mohammad.
Yet prophet's wife Hafsa miraculously had a copy! I wonder how  the same copy which was used to check all others.... I wonder how

Pls ignore the Indians ,as this is about millions of people fleeing their homes because of intolerance.

.
Religious freedom is guaranteed by the Constitution, but the Head of State must be Muslim.
Any problem? Did Syria say its democratic? Nope so head of state is their choice! Like Europeans will never have a Muslim head!

I am answering 1 by 1 ...please read and bear with me :)

Iran is an Islamic republic
not a democracy!

who, within the limits of the law
Every country has laws....Democracy's law is freedom...however Islamic republic has Islamic law...

The formation of parties, societies, political or professional associations, as well as religious societies, whether Islamic or pertaining to one of the recognized religious minorities, is permitted provided they do not violate the principles of independence, freedom, national unity, the criteria of Islam, or the basis of the Islamic Republic.
Yet alot is permitted!

The constitution and other laws and policies protect religious freedom. The constitution requires the state to respect all religious groups and denominations and declares respect for the personal status and religious interests of persons of every religious sect.
Any problem? I can only be shocked if someone has a problem with Lebanon!

The Government prohibits non-Muslims from proselytizing or distributing religious literature, under penalty of criminal prosecution, imprisonment, and deportation, as it constitutes engaging in behavior offensive to Islam.
This is not in Islam though but their own law...

Islamic studies are mandatory in public schools (schools supported by the federal government primarily for citizen children) and in private schools for Muslim children. Instruction of any religion other than Islam is not permitted in public schools; however, religious groups may conduct religious instruction for their members on their religious compounds. Private schools found teaching subjects that contravene Islam, defame any religion, or contravene the nation's ethics and beliefs, may face penalties, including closure.
· Non-Muslim religious groups can own their own land and build houses of worship, where they can practice their religion.
This is common for every Sultanate....So that people understand what the laws are and dont get prosecuted! I myself was given a course on Human rights and how to fight racism when I came in EU!

You are quoting me again and again.

In that case it would be like rewriting the law twice!!:-)And BTW u Paklanders worry way too much about the Sikhs any special reason for ur liking??

None, just had to give a reality check. Indian constitution still recognises Sikhs as Hindus, effectively denying them the right to self determination.

They dream of Khalistan - if becomes reality - would be a buffer country b/w India and Pakistan & going to Help In Kashmir Issue. That is the only Special reason, nothing else....

Don't give yourself too much importance. No one supports Sikhs, Khalistan and other stupid aspirations they have.

We supported Khalistan (Gen Akhtar abdul rehman's idea , later by General Nasir, both heads of the ISI ) to make Hindus kill Sikhs because they owed us a debt for killing our people during migration and to create tools we could use to our advantage, including killing an Indian prime minister who had supported Mukhti Bhini, invaded Pakistan, tested nukes 50 miles from our border, conspired to attack kahuta and was planning another invasion of Pakistan.

Her plan was later adopted as operation brasstacks which ended in failure. Killing her was also of vital importance due to her very close connections with the KGB which was making inroads into Afghanistan (pre invasion), while having a reliable ally on the other side of Pakistan, ready and willing to invade in sync with USSR.

We aided Khalistanis to use them in order to first draw Her to attack the golden temple, since she loved using brute force more than her brain, then we used the leverage created out of the outrage (we manufactured) as a consequence of the op blue star in order to find some suitable operatives to kill her.

Killing her denied USSR a dependable and willing ally and dashed USSR's designs. It also bought us time to mature our nukes and to carry out cold testing.

Since we played Sikhs against govt and govt against the Sikhs, we weren't blamed which spared us a potential war, had a Pakistani blackop been captured trying to kill a serving Indian PM. When Indian govt struck Sikhs in the golden temple and after Indra received a shaft, even then no blame went to us. Thats what i call a finely planned and executed op.

Once both of our objectives were met, we pulled the plug from Khalistanis since their services were no longer needed.

Cheers.

@ranjeet

Minorities need to fit in or leave. We'll offer no 'lip service'.

Is it hard for you to understand that if you write BS expect someone to educate you? Or are you in love with your ignorance? And as for your notifications you can very well put me in your ignore list!

Perhaps the author should have consulted the the Pew's 'Restrictions on Religion' Report !

To the question : Number of Countries Where Religious Groups Were Harassed, by Type of Harassment - Government Harassment & Social Harassment !

Muslims were the most harassed people on both counts as of Dec,2012. (page 23)

To the question: Countries With Very High Social Hostilities Involving Religion !

India, Israel, Russia, Nigeria, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Burma & Thailand were also on the list with the rest of us; unfortunately Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon & Indonesia were on the list too with my country ranked being the highest - Shameful for us....no doubt ! (page 15)

But then again between Pakistan & Sudan - State of War does that to you !

That said, nothing can condone our placement on this list & its indeed shameful for us - But as the Urdu saying goes 'Isss hamam mein hum sub hi nangeii hain' - So look who's talking ?

To the question: Countries With Very High Government Restrictions on Religion !

I concede most Muslim countries fall under the 'very high' category & this must be changed - There is already a debate raging on within the Muslim Community to that effect; certainly the fact that most Muslim Countries have either had Western propped Dictators or Monarchies didn't help but yes it must be changed !

However if some Scandinavian country were telling me this I'd listen to it humbly but whereas Sri Lanka may not be on the very high list....its still on the 'high' list which includes everyone from India to Belgium on it - So again with respect I'd rather some one with a slightly less dotty record lecture me about what Muslim countries should or should not do ! (page 53)

Lastly so far us being myopic because we don't reciprocate - Perhaps the author should take it up with the people at Gallup why we Muslims are less likely than anyone from Christians & Jews to Atheists & Agnostics to justify the killing of civilians !

Gallup Poll: Jews and Christians Way More Likely than Muslims to Justify Killing Civilians | loonwatch.com

Surveys Show Muslims in Every Country Less Likely to Justify Killing Civilians than Americans and Israelis | loonwatch.com

Wrong facts.
There is Indian Special Marriage Act. Anyone can choose to get married under it.

No idea about this country
Explains tons...

@flamer84 do you need any more stuff?
If you keep quoting me Talon, I will start reporting your posts.
Is it hard for you to understand that if you write BS expect someone to educate you? Or are you in love with your ignorance? And as for your notifications you can very well put me in your ignore list!
When someone posts an article Talon, the courtesy is that you use the user notification once and not keep posting it whenever you split the article to give your views on it. Apparently expecting such basic online courtesy was a wrong assumption on part of others.

You are not the first person who is rebutting an article on this forum, the least we expect is that you follow these norms.

I repeat for the last time. Remove the user name from the quote box and by all means continue giving your views on the article.
