Law minister couldn’t help abusing on VoA

Federal Law Minister Wasi Zafar repeatedly hurled naked abuse in a live Voice of America (VoA) radio discussion on chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry's deposition, which was heard worldwide on Monday night.

There were three participants in the telephonic discussion — Wasi Zafar, constitutional expert Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and Ansar Abbasi, Editor Investigations, The News, Islamabad.

Ansar joined the talk a bit late and said he fears to say anything because of Wasi Zafar's peculiar temperament and track record. As he uttered these remarks, the law minister came in and said whoever gives him a "big arm", he would do the same to his family.

As Wasi Zafar heard Ansar joining the programme, he lost his cool and started hurling abuse. He was angered because of a story headlined "Law minister facing long arm of the law" that Ansar had filed and was published in The News on August 13, 2005. It said the prime minister and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain would decide the fate of the law minister for his son's thrashing of a PIA passenger in his presence at the Karachi airport.

Earlier in the programme, Aitzaz Ahsan had also threatened to break off due to the foul language of the law minister. But he was persuaded by the host to continue. Ansar regretted the repetition of the abuse by Wasi Zafar and said the world was listening to the kind of language the minister was using.

A caller from Pishin, Naeem Taseer, also wondered what question should be asked from this kind of a minister. Later, Wasi Zafar vehemently denied on Geo that he hurled any abuse on the VoA programme. However, the audio played by the TV network gave a lie to his assertion.

The minister again poured his anger on Ansar, saying he was corrupt and a blackmailer, who gets money for his stories. In the same programme, Ansar said there was a serious problem in the minister's personality. He said the high-ups should take notice of such ******** who are bringing a bad name to Pakistan.

The other day, the Jaranwala Bar Association cancelled Wasi Zafar's basic membership and recommended to the Pakistan Bar Council that his licence should be revoked. Wasi Zafar earned notoriety when he threatened a chairman of the Capital Development Authority, who had refused to give a concession to him regarding an industrial plot. He and his sons had also thrashed a person at the Karachi airport in 2005, who objected to the minister's sons jumping the queue. Later, he slapped a waiter of a five-star hotel in Islamabad over a trivial matter.

Wasi Zafar's son knocks down a PIA passenger over petty objection


Son of Federal Minister for Law Wasi Zafar, Umair Zafar knocked down a PIA passenger Mujeeb Khan by non-stop hitting when the victim Mujeeb Khan objected for not searching the minister and his son before boarding the PIA flight .
According to details, Minister for Law Wasi Zafar along with his son Umair Zafar arrived at Jinnah International Airport on Wednesday evening, Airport Security Personnel, setting aside the protocol did not check Wasi Zafar and his son Umair.

An Islamabad based PIA passenger objected for his search and mentioned why other passengers were minutely checked and Mr. Minister and his son were leaving un searched. The remarks of poor chap infuriated the young son of federal minister and he started slapping and kicking the man. The hard-hitting action scene created a fuss on airport.

Thanks to airport security force that putting own into risk intervened to rescue chafed Mujeeb Khan from the iron grip of Federal Law Minister's son.

Mujeeb khan was fortunate that doctors of Civil Aviation Authorities nursed him to reach Islamabad.

PM asks Wasi Zafar to keep his cool

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked Law Minister Wasi Zafar to keep his cool after noting his aggression and misbehaviour. Sources said on Wednesday that Shaukat Aziz had invited Wasi Zafar to a lunch hosted in honour of visiting Azeri President Ilham Aliyev when all of a sudden the law minister was seen being escorted by two security guards through one of the doors of Prime Minister’s House. Both security guards caught hold of the law minister by his arms, sources said, adding that the PM’s deputy military secretary rushed to the scene and escorted the law minister out through another door. The prime minister and Azeri president also heard the scuffle while presiding over the signing ceremony of accords between both countries. Later during lunch, the prime minister asked Wasi Zafar to keep his cool. online

Govt, MMA clash in NA


According to inside sources, Law Minister Wasi Zafar and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed gave abuses to each other in the House Business Advisory Committee meeting when the MMA demanded production of Qazi Hameedullah in the national assembly and the minister along with other ruling parties’ members opposed it.
The timely intervention of speaker and other MNAs played a role to cool down the situation but both, Wasi and Hafiz, went on each other again on floor of the national assembly trading allegations with the MMA member saying “We are witnessing practical demonstration after Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said most of the ministers appear to be atoxicated.”
After Wasi Zafar categorically announced to give matching response to the MMA’s accusations and each act, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman made a categoric statement on floor of the House that the Majli with all-out public force would foil the attempts of the government to organize joint races of the male and female.
The PPP-P fully backed the government on the issue of joint marathon race and passing resolution condemning the Gujranwala incident but supported the MMA and the PML-N while demanding issuance of production orders of Qazi Hameedullah and Javed Hashmi.
The speaker deferred the privilege motions as the MMA refused to discuss Gujranwala incident without presence of Qazi Hameedullah. “Qazi Hameedullah has committed a terrorist act and he would have to face the punishment. We will not allow them (MMA) to hijack this House,” what Wasi Zafar said.

He has repeatedly misbehaved with TV hosts, journalists, politicians and god knows how he treats civilians. He has often beaten peons at the parliament lodges.

SO far he has not apologized for his comments on VoA.
