The era of Western dominance in economy and politics is coming to an end, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday.

DVORIKI (Sputnik) — According to the Russian foreign minister, Western countries attempt to artificially maintain dominance through means such as sanctions and military force.

"We see attempts to maintain dominance through artificial means, including by pressuring other countries, by using sanctions and even by the use of military force in violation of international law, in violation of the UN Charter. This adds chaos to international relations," Lavrov said.

New centers of power are objectively emerging in the Asia-Pacific region, Lavrov said, adding that a polycentric world is currently starting to develop, however, the process will be quite long.

"We are witnessing the end of a very long era, the end of an era of dominance by the historic West. Economic, financial, political dominance," the Russian top diplomat said at the Terra Scientia International Youth Forum.

When he says the "west" I think he does not realise that includes his country, politically, socially, economically, Russia in the past 10-20 years is just another eastern European country.

And its horse shit anyway, what is he really on about? If he means China then China has been a huge power for thousands of years, if he means the likes of Brazil/Kazakhstan then he needs to put down his crackpipe.

Russia is and has never been a Western country. Whether a scared and frightened Russia eventually joins the West when China fully develops is another matter.

What he means is that the rise of primarily China, and to a lesser extent the likes of India, will mean that the West would no longer have political, economic and military dominance on the planet.

He is saying nothing that is not obvious - China has already surpassed US in GDP PPP and will soon surpass it in nominal as well.

He means the political west that includes NATO countries, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Russia has always been outside of this group. The divergance can be seen over the Ukraine. The entire West is lined on one side with Russia on the other.

And yes he means a polycentric world where China, India and others reduce the absolute sway held by the west. The days of that are now numbered.

That's the call of the day, indeed.

Russia and China singlehandedly stopped the US bombing Syria during the height up the chemical weapons incident, which was actually plotted by the very Syrian opposition (imprted Jihadists) that the US and its allies have been supporting.

If Russia and China have not done it, the war would have started already in the Caucasus and in Xinjiang.

Interesting how his logic works: the "West" (I'm guessing he means about 4 continents worth of countries) has the power to impose sanctions and use military force almost at discretion, however such power is "artificial" because ..something. Maybe because he says so?

And Russia talking about violating international law is kinda' ironic, with Ukraine and all...I swear, everytime I read this guy or his master I get a headache, it's like listening to some 19th century mystic blabbering about the future.

Weak president in White House refused to bomb Syria because he is too worried about his "legacy". Imported jihadists? I wonder what those hezzies and afghans fighting in government side are.

I hope Trump wins elections and we see US bombing Syrian military to bits.

LMAO......As my friend @jammersat said. Russia is definitely not taking over.:omghaha:

Russian GDP Plunges 4.6% - Bloomberg Business

Russia in Full ‘Crisis’ to Kudrin Forecasting Longer Recession - Bloomberg Business

Its even more funny when you consider that at this rate of growth in 3-4 yearas from now Turkey might overtake Russia economically(thats after India has already overtaken Russia this year.). Lool:lol:

To make things worse even an ultra developed country like ours and the U.S are growing quite well which is more surprising considering we are highly developed/saturated countries. Ahahahah.......Russia's Lavrov makes me laugh.

UK's economic growth for 2014 revised up - BBC News Actually our economy grew 3%last year.

UK economy records fastest growth since 2007 - BBC News

US economy chugging along at 3.5% growth - Oct. 30, 2014

If i was lavrov, i will worry more about my country than those of major western powers:coffee:

However, i still admire Russia for being a very good geo political opponent. @vostok at least you people are quite good in playing the Great game, for that i still respect you in this regard(cant say the same for any other non western power).:victory1:
