IMHO, it should contain a 125mm main gun just like Al Khalid to fire shells and ATGMs in addition to 20 mm and 12.7 mm guns to target the hostile creatures just in case these ships are ought to be unarmed.

Come on man its still larger than the Azmat class Missile crafts. Besides their role is not to engage Indians during the war but patrol and secure our maritime boundaries. Their adversaries will be smugglers, terrorists and at best pirates.

this ship was launched in december 2017. under going sea trails with PMSA. the 1500 ton patrol ship is currently under construction in KSEW.

PN cannot Afford to have boats with a single mission in mind they have to make them multitasker so with little or no changes they can be utilized in war.

Firstly this vessel isnt for PN, its for the PMSA. It is essentially a coastal policing vessel and sea interdiction vessel. It isnt meant to fight naval ships or submarines, it isnt meant to bombard shore implacements or fire LACM. It is meant to protect Pakistan's maritime interests and merchant vessels from criminals, terrorists, smugglers, and pirates. It will likely be fitted with a 25mm or 30mm automated chain gun like Aselsan STOP or SMASH. Additionally, it would likely have 4 12.7mm heavy machine guns and a number of small arms. Hopefully it will also carry a helicopter, if not , at least a drone like sky saker h300 armed with TL-2 A2G missile.

I know about its role but I'm of the opinion that KS&EW should dedicate all its resources on building hi-tech and larger frigates that cost much more. These boats can either be directly bought from the market ...China, S. Korea, Spain, Turkey, Netherlands etc or make a dedicated suitable scale facility that focusses on making such patrol boats.

PNS direly needs large frigates and those are expensive, prone to sanctions and embargoes etc...That's the area we need to focus.

Why on earth would you consider buying direct from supplier when you can build it at home? Its cheaper for the PMSA and its construction employs hundreds of workers. It also keeps the knowledge and capability of KSEW sharp.

we do, 1 Type 54A is coming with option of 3 more .. Turkish Corvette will come sooner or later , and so does swiftships and Damen OPV's ..

I know mate, these plus S-20 subs from China but my contention is why are we not making on our shores, our own indigenous or JVed/ToTed ship.

My friend we build Last F-22P (aslat) at home , so if we are getting 4 Type 54, than i am sure PN will insist at least one to be built in Karachi ship yard .
