LATEST PICS FROM INDO-CHINA HAND IN HAND 2014 :woot:

Like I keep telling you bro, this is down to the different units taking part in all such exercises. The IA is MASSIVE, not all units will be at the same level at the same time, some will receive newer kit sooner than others. So the equipment you see worn/carried by the Indian soldiers in these joint exercises with foreign militaries depends on the IA unit taking part. There is not some wider conspiracy/plan at work here.

bro, i am not taking about standard issued equipment. its joint military exercise, so army is using better equipment than they generally use, except in YA2014

.
Depends on the unit which participates in the exercise.

The IA units from YA 2012 were from the Mechanized Infantry while the units from last years hand in hand exercise were from the Sikh Regiment. Those regiments are simply better equipped than more "regular" ones.

do you ever see Mechanized Infantry using knee pads, better helmets and elbow pads other than in military excercise??

This isn't true bro, the equipment these units use is the equipment they have been issued, it is their standard issue equipment. The IA doesn't simply modernise units who are going for joint exercises only. That is illogical. And anyway Yudh Abhyas 2014 completely undermines your entire point- why was the IA unit (Gorkas IIRC) so poorly equipped when they were in an exercise with the US? Simply because the modernised gear hasn't got to that unit yet.

Well how often do you see Mech Infantry (or any part of the India Mil) at all?

bro, i didn't mean that IA is modernizing units who are going for joint exercises. but if you look at india's way of doing excercise with other country then you can see that we use better equipment in exercises. Gorkas was using US equipment during the YA2013

no i saw army personals in uniform very rarely, but saw amy pics in FB pages and in documentres
Exactly, making it near impossible to accurately assess the IA's current modernisation efforts in real time. The only time we catch a glimpse of such is during these joint exercises and even then it is a only a very limited glimpse.

so you are saying that those equipments are standard issued for that unit??

Impressive!
Not bad!
The Maratha Light Infantry Regiment is certainly one of the best equipped Infantry regiments in the Army (In terms of personal equipment at least).

Although the finishing of the INSAS is just disgusting

This is what you get from protecting state owned companies :hitwall:.

Not all rifles in these pics are as old...
The insas is a cheap, no frills weapon..stamped steel mainly to keep costs down..
A gun that came out if ishapore in 97 wasnt very finely crafted to begin with, and after 17 years of service, will usually show signs of it.. This one appears to have been further painted over at the unit level, because of usual wear and tear on the finish, and they obviously didnt have artistic concerns in mind, going by the pic
