What's new

Last time a Muslim country invaded a Christian country?

. .
1. Turkish Liberation of Cyprus 1974
(Note although Cyprus isn't completely Christian it's something like approx. 55% Christian, 45% Muslim)

Is that even an issue today?

2. Indonesian Invasion of East Timor, Dec. 1975
(East Timor is predominantly Roman Catholic, I'm debating whether this invasion is significant or simply a minor invasion, but technically this could be the last one hence it's on the list.)

East Timor is now a country.

3. Armenia vs Azerbaijan - Nagorno-Karabakh War, Feb 1988, May 1994
(Not sure if this qualifies as a true invasion by Azerbaijan, but fighting broke out in Nagorno-Karabakh predominantly ethnic Armenian area? but also mixed with Azeris) In. 1992 full fledged war began. Operation Goranboy by Azerbaijan is considered successful, Azeris capture the Askeran region many towns and the largest town in the region.) Important to note ethnic enclaves exist throughout the mixed region.

Don't know about that...seems mostly surrounded by ethnic tensions.

I do not think those wars or conflicts were religiously motivated in the strictest sense.

Was the Iraq-war religiously motivated by the so-called "Christian Zionists"? Terribly hard to say.

Isn't Al Qaeeda part of the Islamic Ummah?

lol?
