Land Version of K 4 Under Development?

Hi Guys,

With Agni IV we entered into a complete new phase of Missile technology. Composite motor, New fuel, new high accuracy guidance and new structural design. Agni IV onward missile are totally different and of new generation (So Saraswat called them Game Changer). You can see the difference. Agni 4 weighs just 17 tons and can cover 4000 KM with 1.5 ton payload. The vehicle used in second test of Agni V was a much improved version of Agni V (1st Test). The guys who witnessed the test said that it accelerate too fast like submarine launch missile or anti missile defense system. The guise is that either it was a redesign structure or a new efficient propellant was used. It hit the target with unimaginable accuracy of 10 m which no other country has achieved so far.

If same technology has now gone into Agni III, It can certainly have the 22 ton weight because it is almost same as agni IV with some what higher diameter. Agni III is basically design to carry a huge payload. It is not for range since it is a China Specific Missile. It has a huge weight carrying capacity of over 2.5 tons.

High structural strength allows motor to operate at high pressure so fast acceleration and high fuel efficiency so fast escape from gravity so saving of fuel once again.

A4 technology have gone into K series (May be otherwise also). How ever K4 differ totally in trajectory. When A4 climbs a height of over 800 KM, K4 just do not leave atmosphere and go beyond 50 KM. In its terminal phase, K4 follows almost Cruise missile trajectory. It performs lots of maneuvers depresses the trajectory and hit the target with a great accuracy.

The payload is 800 KG (some sources say); majority sources suggest payload of 1 ton.

When A4 climbs a height of over 800 KM

The maximum apogee achieved by Agni 4 is 900 KM.

K4 just do not leave atmosphere and go beyond 50 KM. In its terminal phase, K4 follows almost Cruise missile trajectory

There are sources which say K 4 is quasi ballistic missile

Kindly provide source for claim.

First A4 was tested with 800 KG payload with Apogee of 900 KM +.

There are sources which say K 4 is quasi ballistic missile>> Exactly the trajectory I described is a quasi ballistic trajectory.

A beautiful word is used for K4 missile trajectory bu Avinash Chandar. It is " Shaped Trajectory" since these missile offers a lots of flexibility in trajectory selection prior to launch.

Avinash Chandar months ago said that Land version of K 4 will be tested. He did not specify that when it will be tested though.

The shaped trajectory missile reference was for K15 not K4 .

It was supposed to be tested in next month of his statement.

Pl find here with the source.

Avinash Chander, DRDO chief and former head of ASL, Hyderabad, pronounced 2nd test firing of Agni-5 a success. He didn’t elaborate. But he must be particularly happy with several aspects. Firstly, with how well the second stage, 2 m dia composite motor functioned. Two, how nicely the GOC (guidance on chip) once again permitted the missile to attain 10 meter CEP. And most of all, as was pointed out by someone who noticed it in the first launch and which could possibly be seen when the video is released of the 2nd launch, the very rapid climb rate of the missile — characteristic of a submarine-launched missile or an anti-missile defence missile (!!!). It suggests a new propellant with higher specific impulse or, alternately, greater pressure generated in the chamber and, therefore, newer frame design. Going good, A-5!

1500 KG Sources are not very reliable but it is. like A V has 8000 KM range but as per source it is 5000 KM only.

Pls provide source if any. As far as I know its an SLBM like K 15. The only semi(quasi) out there is Shourya..

I think that Shaurya and K15 are same missile. Shaurya is land based (Canisterized) version of K15. Both follows depressed trajectory and do not leave earth atmosphere. They shall follow a cruise like trajectory in terminal phase and Hit the target with a great accuracy.

K 15 is Depressed Trajectory or as DRDO says, shaped trajectory missile
