Land grabbing case: SC orders anti-corruption department to seize Khokhar Palace

LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Sunday directed Director General Anti-Corruption Department to seize the Khokhar Palace and present a report on the case within 10 days.

A bench led by the chief justice resumed hearing a suo motu case at the Lahore registry against illegal occupation of the properties of individuals by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmaker Afzal Khokhar, MPA Saiful Malook Khokhar and Shafi Khokhar.

Chief Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that the land grabbing culture in Pakistan was introduced by the Khokhar brothers.

'I won't let this lawlessness prevail in Pakistan, we are breaking the nexus. The Khokhar Palace should be evicted. We can make an academic institution at the site," he observed.

The top judge said that he knew very well what the Khokhar brothers would do with him after his retirement. He directed the anti-corruption department to register cases against the Khokhars.

Afzal Nadeem Khokhar on December 25 was arrested for building his home, Khokhar Palace, allegedly by taking illegal possession of 34 marla land of a citizen, Tariq Mahmood.

The anti-corruption department in its report before the Supreme Court said that the Khokhar brothers grabbed at least 40 kanal government land, adding that the accused made payments to only one person out of 10 others.

The report said that the Khokhar Palace is built on grabbed land, and both the co-accused have pre-arrest bails till the retirement date of the chief justice as they believe that no one would take action against them after CJ Nisar's retirement.

Govt retrieves state land illegally occupied by Khokhar brothers

LAHORE: District Administration Lahore on Sunday retrieved 38 kanals of state land allegedly illegally occupied by PML-N’s Khokhar brothers, reported ARY News.

Sources said the administration launched an anti-encroachment operation near Expo Centre and recovered the government land from illegal occupation. The value of the retrieved land is estimated at around Rs1.5 billion.


The Khokhar brothers had fraudulently encroached upon the land and were served notices prior to the operation, the sources said.

The additional deputy commissioner revenue (ADCR) Lahore and SSP Operations monitored the anti-encroachment operation.


On the other hand, PML-N leader Saiful Malook said the Lahore Development Authority was razing his three houses and one plaza. These residences belonged to his nephews and nieces, he added.
He lamented that these structures were being pulled down despite the Lahore High Court’s stay order.

Every thing was legal not constructed on illegally occupied land. The construction map 'Naqsha' was regularized for the entire community not just Bani Gala ( zone 2, zone 4 and zone 5 was regularized ).
Just like in Bahria town/DHA you have to follow certain bylaws when constructing house, this was not done for the entire community instead the construction plan was certified locally previously.

Yeah at first after reading the title, I thought it was about pindi khokhars. Well taji and his brother are dead, lets hope something will be done about their children, but I doubt anything will happen. A lot of land grabbing is carried out against weaker/poor families, who will really step up to be witness in this corrupt judicial system?
