Lets see how good is Mumbai's Metro...mumbai desperately needs these. If other projects like Sky-bus or, Monorail are also started then only the huge crowd can be managed..

yeah it is simply bashing. i've seen the metro and it is no way low-tech. its very nice and it's being installed in other cities too. low-class is still better than nothing at all, lol.

anyway, would be great if this gets built, but we will not take care of it, we will never clean up our messes. what happens is we take garbage from our house put it next door, and that cycle continues until someone decides to throw it in a place and that's how big dumps are formed. if we keep our neighbourhoods clean, then trust me, the area will look much nicer. but it's jahalat. we need education for EVERYONE.

lets hope & pray for a good outcome. I have a feeling that soon things will start to change, for the good. People are getting fed up.

There is no such thing as Low class Metro system, All systems are Basic in design as long as it do the job. That means moving the Masses from one point to point Zero!!! At lowest cost to them. All big city in Sub-continent needs proper mass transit systems.

i live in new delhi. you said delhi metro is considered as low tech. but i think it's very much effective, it change the face of delhi. so why not pakistan importing this, if it's cheap and effective tech. u know why bcoz japan is not going to giving it to pakistan so they have only way i.e. china.

Actually its not a defence deal that other countries may object. Any country can buy this deal from any country as long as they are paying $$$ in Cash

Pakistan's 2 big citys, Karachi ans lahore desparatly need a Mass transit systems, there is nothing wrong looking at Delhi metro to see if it meets the local requirements for karachi and lahore !!!!

AM, this is taking moderation a little too far IMHO. Please try and understand that the Lahore Metro will go through the same issues as the Delhi metro as the problems are no different. It is unfortunate that moderation these days is constraining discussions rather than facilitating them.

this project of lahore metro is almost 25 to 30 years old and the 1st feasibility report was made by japnese firm n the project was also going into hands of japnese firms but due to unstable political situations and constant rule of dictators made delays in this project which caused increase in cost of project and now dnt know which compny will get the contract

this project will be finance by Asian development bank ... now days punjab government wants to make lahore ring road project before this project ... lahore ring road project is one of the most expensive mega project of infrastructure in pakistan approximately 115 km circular road with 13 interchanges more than 40 flyovers cost of this project is said to be more than 80 billion rupees .. some sources claim the project cost is around 110 billion rupees ...

right now govt have 3 primary objects of infrastructure development in provincial capital

1) lahore ring road ( almost 60 % work is completed progress is on full pace)
2) Lahore rapid mass transit
3) lahore elevated expressway

actually this project of park is really difficult because million acres of fertile land will b part of this project and thousands of families will b effected by this project i dnt think so it will b reality now or in future

Apart from good road network a Metro is must for any big city.

Anyways, why Pakistan doesn't go for modern metro, like the ones in USA,china/japan, or other Europeans nations??

i know it's expensive, but maybe start small project with the help of china, and than charge people $. Than invest that money into building another same project.

IS business that hard?? or it's more than just that?
