Lahore Rapid Mass Transit Rail Project

this rail project will help to change the image of pakistan in world. but i think govt. will face lot of problems in this huge projet.

1: cost of projet: cost of project will be more than $ 5 billion. can pakistan bear it ? if govt. can bear it , how they recover all the cost so that they build more.....
2: security : every one know it there is lot of security issue in pakistan after completion of project it 'll be main target of terroist how they manage security.
however i like that pakistan will complete this project.:yahoo:

Lahore Rapid Mass Transit Rail Project

The completion dates of ‘Green Line’ is in 2011. Initially the project was supposed to finish in 2012 but due to Cricket World Cup od 2012 wher Lahore will be hosting few matches, the Green Line completion date has been pulled in to 2011.

In March 2007, Punjab Government invited Dr E. Sreedharan who is the managing director of successfully operating Delhi Metro Rail. After studying the project details Dr Sreedharan has declared Green Line Project as a viable one. He has inspected the first priority line’s route from Shahdara to Hamza Town. In his view, the implementation of the Green Line project (Phase I) would face no major technical difficulty because the soil condition en route was good and roads were wide, having room for underground construction without creating any serious inconvenience to the city.

Good to hear Indian connection, yeas we can build it in 4 years flat. 1st phase in 2 years 2nd will take 3 years maximum.

And the duration can be shorter if Pakistan don't have problem like environment lobby or land acquisition which is the reason for delays in projects in India and cost escalation.

BTW, What is the current status?????

In my knowledge no such construction is going on.

Rs. 140 a side. will anyone pay such a fare? its too much for worker class who will be the main consumers of this service.

No regular user will able to afford it.

In India, Rs 30 is the highest fare in Delhi Metro that too the latest revised fares.

BTW, what is the rate of Pakistan rupee per dollar????

You can travel up to 60 km in the metro by paying just Rs. 30. Fully Air Conditioned lavish coach has many facilities like points to charge your mobile, laptop etc. In build CCTV cameras, LED display and audio for station info. The stations have book shops, coffee shops, restaurants, ATMs, etc.

Wow, you are really underestimating Pakistan's currency.

Its 84.43 if you are selling, and 84.46 if you are buying

Too expensive to import the technology and maintain the service. Delhi's Metro is considered low-tech "Light Rail Transit" (LRT), not high-tech "Mass Rail Transit" (MRT). This is one of the major reasons for importing China's advanced MRT Metro system to Bombay (the first in India). This would provide 'bragging rights' and improve the 'image' of Mumbai, and hence India as a whole. :angel

From where china came into discussion???????

For your information Delhi Metro uses hi-tech.

The chinese company along with Indian and other forighn companies filed the tender and since chinese were the lowest bidder they have got the order.

So, the reason of giving order to chinese to serve us by supplying coaches is because the chinese coaches are the cheapest one.

Don't make other member fool by your propaganda or update your info if you don't know anything.

sir,

That's why i was saying that if u don't have these problems in Pakistan as we have in India you can get it done in lesser time.

As, for density and stuff like that, i like to inform you that in Delhi Metro goes just near the historic "Jama Masjid" and "Lal Quila" area in Delhi. Only about hundred meter away from Jama Masjid.

And these are the most densely populated areas with the heritage and very old building some are hundreds of years old.

But the Delhi Metro has not damaged a single brick or people displaced in that area and the people are enjoying the experience.

This is the proved technique we have successful experience for last 8 years, up and running.

thanks

The reason why this project was a success because everybody knew how the traffic situation was worsening. This project was a dire need of the city and people. People co-operated with some minor issues here and there and must say Govt acted swiftly and strongly as well to back the project and Sir E. Sreedharan.

And to let you know there was not major cutting of trees as they planned the areas pretty well and went underground and over head when required.

.
This will be repeat of the same ol same as in the case of our motorways. first Pakistanis got the contract than Turkidha dnthan Koreans, who were approached by Pakistani contractors for supply of machinery and labour.

And Koreans zccepted thinking the cost of bringing such things plus the cost of machinary transportation from Korea and local repurcussions about jobs.

So my question is that if we can built the nuclear bomb, but cannot built or are so corrupt that we donot trust each other to built the LRT, or Subway or what even it needs to be built, than it is not meant for us till we clean our house fast and I mean fast.

Look at the list in the following.

List of NRO Beneficieries in Pakistan - Zardari, Rehman Malik Tops it — Pro-Pakistan

Sir,

About 30,000 trees have already been cut for Metro Phase-I.

Proof of my statement:

Save Delhi?s Trees, Do Not Sacrifice this heritage for transport Petition

sir,

i got your point.

The same type of problems are in India also.

And about the machinery that will be easy to supply from India then Korea.

And there is shortage of some types of skilled labors in India, we have high quality of engineers but the electricians, crane operator draftsmen, welder type of skilled and experience people are required.

I don't know you have info or not.

In India we are building infrastructure at never before in the history of south Asia. In 5 years our's will be the largest railway, port and road network in the world.

Hence, the shortage.

thanks
