All the crap they did in so called socialist countries.. Nationalized every damn thing, Made the country a welfare state a third world welfare state at that, And dragged the country and it;s economy back 30 years

In the 1950's Sri Lanka was well on it's path to become the 2nd developed nation in Asia after Japan.. By 79' It was one of the poorest and the civil war had not even started

the libya jamahiriya nationalized oil and brought one of the poorest nations ( before 1969 ) to one of the richest ( not just money-wise but also in comforts )... look at syria - quite a comfortable place before the invasion... so sri lankan socialists must have not done proper planning.

socialist countries tend to have sh*tty tourism...

syria and china have good tourism... so does cuba, i think... north korea has a limited tourism sector.

of course, all this is guided by security considerations.
