Any drug clinical trial conducted in India has to first receive approval from Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). Also simultaneously the medical institutions/ hospitals conducting these clinical trials needs to obtain permission from Independent Ethics Committees or Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).
