Labour To Announce Mechanism For Expulsion Of 100,000 Expats Yearly
‘No More Transfer Of Family Visit Visas’

KUWAIT CITY, April 13: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Thikra Al-Rashidi said the ministry will soon announce the mechanism for the expulsion of 100,000 expatriates every year, reports Al-Jarida daily.
In a recent press statement, Al-Rashidi confirmed the ministry is determined and serious in its bid to expel a million expatriates within 10 years to fix the loopholes in the local labor market. She said this is one of the priorities of the ministry as part of its program to support national manpower in the private sector.

It can be recalled that the members of the Parliament expressed contradicting views on the ministry’s plan with some of them supporting it while others consider the move a violation of human rights.
Al-Rashidi also issued a decision banning the transfer of commercial visit visas to work permits in the private sector, justifying the move as a way to organize the foreign workforce and to fix the lopsided population structure.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has suspended the processing of applications to transfer family visit visas to dependent visas (Article 22) or work permits (Article 18).

Reliable sources from the ministry said the Immigration Department no longer accepts applications for the transfer of family visit visas to dependent or work visas for all nationalities. Sources clarified the family visit visa is valid only for three months and it is not extended unless for medical reasons as proven by official documents from the Ministry of Health.

Sources added the ministry also suspended the transfer of commercial visit visas to work permits for all nationalities, including those who hold academic certificates — a decision that took effect on April 1.

In another development, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Dousari announced that they will soon test the new shelter constructed for expatriate domestic workers in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Al-Dousari explained that the testing of the center will be carried out prior to transferring the domestic workers as per the laid down regulations, revealing that the concerned officials have moved about 42 individuals from the temporary shelter in Khaitan as a preliminary step of transferring all the workers to the new shelter.

He indicated that it will not be possible to transfer all the workers there without ensuring the availability of basic necessities in the building, adding that the new shelter can accommodate 700 domestic workers in two separate sections for male and female.

He warned that the ministry will take punitive measures against lawbreakers while human rights of the concerned individuals will be taken into consideration.

He affirmed that the officials will do everything possible to implement the standards specified in the international agreement in the domestic workers’ shelter, assuring that the officials in charge of the shelter are from the concerned ministries such as interior, justice and foreign affairs.

These arabs are really getting mad day by day. They are kicking out not only Illegals but also Legals I have been living in Saudi arabia since my childhood. I spent 15 Years in Saudia and 10 years in Pakistan. Means me and my family spent whole life in Saudia(which we considered our home) and we are Legals following the rules and regulation of Saudia.

And now im afraid to even step out of home thinking I might get caught and my whole family will be deported. Im hearing very troubling news and I was just talking on the same issue with my friend. And he said that King Abdullah gave 3 months to expats to correct the documents but the Jawazat is still raiding offices.

Hope our Saudi members will give us some correct information as they have internal information of Govt offices ..

They simply cannot let the sub-continent blue collar worker go...they need these people...Arabs are not going to drive trucks and buses, they aren't gonna clean gutters, do plumbing, do carpentry, stand in the heat to do labour, clean the streets and all sorts of other jobs.

They are, in a way, in need of us.

.
^ maybe not , but i personally hope they do so , so that other nations like europe follow suit and that these people come back to their home countries and demand real change , be it in pakistan or iran :)

Their country, their rules, learn your place and get over it. We have been, willingly exporting slaves, why can't we fix our own nation and stop whinging over the Arabs doing as they please?

exactly..Pakistan is turning into a labor camp..FDI in our country is not driven by talent but cheaper wages. This situation needs to change, we need to become an innovation driven economy rather than a cheap labor camp.

They can't deport all of expatriates, they desperately need them and won't make progress without them, as one of members here said, it's impossible for gulf Arabs to work under the sun or as plumbers or carpenters...etc.

what makes you think otherwise ? the arabs are obviously seeing how the "world economy" , as lead by the US , is getting nowhere , so they are doing a wise thing imo , and i believe they have their share of an "inferior" population to do the dirty work , like in saudi arabia the shia could do the plumbing.

.
This may be part of a bigger picture.
Asiatic migrant workers specially muslims had no problems complying with strict Islamic code if conduct in Arab states.
Later workers from non muslim countries may be brought in enmass and that will root out Islamic code of conduct and Islam itself from those arab countries.
