Kuwait revokes citizenship of prominent Muslim cleric for his support to Gaza

.
Too bad the society doesn't think the same way.

You told me it was because of Israel that Israelis have managed to bring such developments. What has Israel done which was so special?
Is this a joke?
Are you trolling?

Research yourself on what Israel has and what it gives to its citizens because of which its citizens produce such outstanding scientists and engineers and agriculturists instead of other middle eastern countries. Your question is utterly laughable.

The Kuwaiti cabinet decided on Monday to revoke the citizenship of a prominent Islamic cleric along with nine other Kuwaitis, citing "security reasons".
Al-Resalah newspaper reported that this decision was apparently taken over their public statement in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In its weekly meeting led by Prime Minister Sabbah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabbah, the cabinet decided to revoke the citizenship of Dr Nabil Al-Awadi based on article 13 of the Kuwaiti citizenship law.

In his first public response to the decision, Awadi, who is reportedly close to the Muslim Brotherhood, said via Twitter: "I will remain faithful to my country Kuwait... and loyal to his Highness my Prince... and loving and advising to the people of Kuwait, my family... and I pray for Allah to protect Kuwait and its people from all evil."

Gulf authorities routinely harass Islamic clerics due to their political stances, especially their stance on Palestine, which is a popular cause.

On 22 July, the Kuwaiti cabinet revoked the citizenship of Ahmed Jaber Kadhim Al-Shammari, owner of Al-Youm satellite channel and Al-Alam Al-Yaoum newspaper for reasons of "public interest" and that of former opposition MP Abdullah Al-Barghash, claiming he acquired his citizenship "through fraud".

Human Rights Watch denounced these actions as a "crackdown on people seeking reform". The organisation's MENA head Joe Stork added that, "No government has the right to strip away its people's citizenship simply because it disapproves of them, their opinions, or their actions."

The government in Kuwait is reportedly investigating an alleged plot to overthrow the ruling system, further fuelling the crackdown.

A new low for gulf monarchs. Btw lets not bash our arab brothers for their corrupt rulers. Such dacoit regimes doesn't necessarily represent their people at large.

What happened to Muslim Ummah stuff & this is why Israel is here to stay

.
The Arabs in the Persian Gulf have largely betrayed their fellow brothers in Gaza. Out of all Arabs i can only respect Palestinians who are the only people on earth who are actively fighting the cancer on earth (Israel).

Watch secrets of WWI, seeing is believing how arabs revolted and aided Europe/UK and destroyed Ottomon Empire in favor of British Empire...

. . . .
U really think out of u r *** now don't u. Where did Umah come into it. And still it's an internal matter so shuu.
maybe there is some other reason too for revoking his citizenship other than just supporting Gaza massacre?

All the money goes through that charity, he knows and now one else. I think he is keeping their books.

If you are ignorant and dumb that's not my problem.

Saudi Arabia is the world's largest source of funds for Islamist militant groups such as the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba – but the Saudi government is reluctant to stem the flow of money, according to Hillary Clinton.

"More needs to be done since Saudi Arabia remains a critical financial support base for al-Qaida, the Taliban, LeT and other terrorist groups," says a secret December 2009 paper signed by the US secretary of state. Her memo urged US diplomats to redouble their efforts to stop Gulf money reaching extremists in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"Donors in Saudi Arabia constitute the most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide," she said.

Three other Arab countries are listed as sources of militant money: Qatar,Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

The cables highlight an often ignored factor in the Pakistani and Afghan conflicts: that the violence is partly bankrolled by rich, conservative donors across the Arabian Sea whose governments do little to stop them.

The problem is particularly acute in Saudi Arabia, where militants soliciting funds slip into the country disguised as holy pilgrims, set up front companies to launder funds and receive money from government-sanctioned charities.

In common with its neighbours Kuwait is described as a "source of funds and a key transit point" for al-Qaida and other militant groups. While the government has acted against attacks on its own soil, it is "less inclined to take action against Kuwait-based financiers and facilitators plotting attacks outside of Kuwait".

Kuwait has refused to ban the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society, a charity the US designated a terrorist entity in June 2008 for providing aid to al-Qaida and affiliated groups, including LeT.

There is little information about militant fundraising in the fourth Gulf country singled out, Qatar, other than to say its "overall level of CT co-operation with the US is considered the worst in the region".

The funding quagmire extends to Pakistan itself, where the US cables detail sharp criticism of the government's ambivalence towards funding of militant groups that enjoy covert military support.

The source is a ''secret December 2009 paper signed by the US secretary of state''.

A ''secret paper by US secretary of state'' isn't reliable. It could be a fabricated 'secret' paper.

According to Western intelligence contractors, most terror funding in Kuwait is black money. US government officials say foreign terror funders come to Kuwait and open charities that secretly funnel money to terrorists. People in Kuwait are unknowingly donating money to terrorists due to the fraudulent nature of these charities. Kuwait has a loose financial system that many foreigners use to make black money

Kuwaiti government sues local theatre over play that 'mocks Shia Islam'
Kuwait’s Information Ministry has filed a lawsuit against a local theatre over its production of a play the government claims insults and undermines Shia Muslims, who are a minority in the country, Kuwait Times has reported.

Shia activists and MPs claim an actor mocked Shi’ism by raising a black flag and reciting Shia slogans in a mocking voice during at least one scene of the play Hagar, which has been running in the capital since the beginning of Eid Al Fitr.

The accused actor Khaled Bosakher publicly apologised on his Twitter account, saying he had not intended to insult anyone and was aiming to infuse comedy into the play, the newspaper said.

Silencing opinions because they're not as popular, or a little too radical is a tad authoritarian, isn't it?

Not actually if those opinion can damage social fabric of a country or breed little radicals .

He was not supporting Gaza massacre. And yes there is def other reasons involved. I hear imams at the mosques, offering prayers for Gaza and Palestinians all the time. If this was the reason the mosques would be out of imams.

I live in an area that has a huge Shia presence. And during muharam there is so much police stationed next to hussainiahs, not for protection. But to make sure that the traffic don't become a nuisance for the people attending the majalis.

The guy has 4.5 million followers on twitter more than the pop. of Kuwait. His only fault seem to be that he is a supporter of MB and have voiced against the kuwaiti foreign policy of sucking Israeli balls. But revoking someone's citizenship? Where's the rule of law here?

You sound like a confused Bengali, you know Kuwait is the only Arab country that stood with Bangaldesh during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Stop spreading misinformation, Nabeel al-Awadhi lost the Kuwaiti nationality because he supports terrorism

SO kuwait helping BD some 40 years ago justifies revoking citizenship of a prominent cleric? What obscure logic is this? And if he was indeed supporting terrorism then there is courts and judges there to look into it or do the kuwaiti monarchy lack those basic institutions?:big_boss: Btw i don't give 2 woot abt nationalism so don't play nationalistic card with me .

how do you revoke citizenship of natives???

U have to be a zionist ball sucking monarch to do such things.

he is not a prominent cleric. He is of the same mindset as ISIS and TTP.

And u know that because? :D He is a supporter of MB.
