Historical Broghil festival concludes today
Thousands turned up to enjoy the two-day fun-packed event

CHITRAL: Despite situated in the remote, difficult terrain, thousands turned up to enjoy the historical Broghil Festival in Upper Chitral district over the weekend.
Festival-goers got to see the rare sight of the traditional sports of yak polo, and buzkashi along with other sports such as polo, cricket, football, marathons, tug-of-war, wrestling and others, as well as traditional sports, food and music.
Earlier, Upper Chitral Deputy Commissioner Shah Saud had inaugurated the festival in the traditional manner by throwing the ball to kick start a match of the yak polo. The two-day festival provided an opportunity for tourists to enjoy various sports, the deputy commissioner told the media.
The festival is feature traditional food stalls and music, including yak polo, donkey polo, cricket, football, Buzkashi, marathon races, tug-of-war and wrestling.
Saud said that all the routes have been opened and a large number of tourists have reached the valley. Different sports competitions were being organised at the festival. They are striving hard to provide the best facilities to the tourists as well as the best entertainment. The closing ceremony of the festival will be held today (Monday). The deputy commissioner further said that tourism activities have been resumed after the government removed the lockdown.
The K-P Tourism Department has set up a tent village for tourists at the festival in Broghil National Park.
