Korea threaten to strike Kim Jong Eun's palace if Seoul is attacked

Saying S Korea can not attack the north is not called defending north my Turkish brother.Cool it down. It's a fact because NK is not that stupid to attack the south and they got nukes too.

i have met some Iranians on forums praising North-Korea only because they are anti-US and they have helped Iran with missile technology...

turning a blind eye to the sick and disgusting things this regime does to it's own people. saying they are "just talk" is completely wrong. either you lack knowledge or you don't do enough research. when NK used artillery on the SK island SK responded and destroyed most of the artillery that aimed at the island.

just because you hate USA doesn't mean you should show support to everyone who hates USA.

.
Interesting to see how many of our Iranian brothers have been recruited by the Chinese to support their causes.

Seoul can be flattened yes with some minimal loss of lives, but Seoul is prepared for it. Buildings can be reconstructed. But the N Korean Kim dynasty will be finished, while the Army will be kept intact or absorbed with South Korean army.

Unless Kim dynasty become more friendly and work with the South Koreans to open up the country and economy and go for reforms, any adventurism, like the repeat of the sinking of the ship, will trigger a South Korean invasion. I think it is good that South Korea has finally on the war footing and getting prepared for it.

Having said that, there is a problem in the South Korean side also. I heard Kim Dae Jung and his party was more supportive of the peaceful unification project of Sunshine Policy. But the current party in power, a chaebol 1% elite and US stooge, has rolled back that policy and going for more provocation, because that would justify the US base and military presence in the area.

I think both US and China oppose unification and move towards that direction. As usual big bully nations playing their super power games to increase and keep their influence. What we need is for South Korea and Japan to bury their differences, come together on the issue of joining hands with ASEAN and create a regional bulwark against interference from big super powers from near or far in the affairs of all of us, the little guys.

.
South Korea is picking on the young leader of the North now. I remembered in those good old days when his father sneezed, the South would catches a bad cold. Time has changed, I guess.

. .
South Korea won't do anything, just like nothing was done when North Korea torpedoed their warship and killing all the South Korean sailors on board, and just like nothing was done when North Korea launched artillery shells at the South Korean Island killing a number of South Korea civilians.

.
GO for it! But I doubt they're gonna attack you. If NK does use nukes, the whole world will be after them
North Korea has no means to deliver the nukes, except for by trucks and ships. Not even the ICBM that NK's prepared to launch cannot carry this warhead sized the Hiroshima Little Boy.

The US is for it, so that they could build a Kadena-sized air base within 30 minutes reach of Beijing. The USAF F-22 and F-35 would be able to operate over Beijing without refueling if necessary.

China obviously does not want to see USAF fighter jets and spyplanes legally fly so close to Beijing(Halfway between North Korea and China in the Yellow Sea) everyday and is the reason they are supporting Kim's tyranny.

What purpose of this? Do you know how much Seoul contributes to the Korean's GDP? Even the possibility of military confrontation will send stock market to Toilet. In modern wars, it is not about who has better weapons, it is about who can bear the loss. If the war broke up, Seoul will be leveled and world economy will collapse (Just think about days after Japan's earthquake, and Thailand's flood). What damage can SK bring to NK, knocking down the shinning Juche Tower?

Let's not provoke the war. Some Koreans like the OP is already blinded enough.

Then recover when the dust is settled. It is in China's economic interest to not intervene so that North Korea is quickly overrun by the ROK+US troops in a week. The longer China supports Kim Regime, greater the hatred of newly liberated North Korean population toward China will be. It's interesting to note that the greatest opponent to NK food aid are NK defectors. The NK defectors see the regime collapse as the only solution.

If the war broke up, Seoul will be leveled and world economy will collapse
Two hours of shelling won't do it as the counter battery would wipe out the origin of attack in minutes.

Let's not provoke the war.
The conservatives and the ROK military want to "liberate" North Korean population, and believe they have a moral obligation to liberate these people. Turning a blind eye on tyranny because of stock market is considered immoral in Korea.

More than 40 N. Korean soldiers killed or injured during Yeonpyeong battle: report
SEOUL, March 2 (Yonhap) -- More than 40 North Korean soldiers were killed or wounded when South Korea returned fire for the North's artillery attack on Yeonpyeong Island in November 2010, a media report said Friday, quoting a source familiar with the battalion responsible for the assault.

The attack on the South Korean border island killed two marines and two civilians, causing inter-Korean relations to deteriorate to their worst level in decades. The number of North Korean casualties from South Korea's return fire has not been confirmed.
The North Korean command was shocked by the level of destruction caused by just three ROK K-9 howitzers, and this is the reason that another shelling is ruled out by the North Korean command afterward. Along the DMZ, there are thousands of ROK howitzers and MLRS ready to open fire, so any NK artillery attack can be suppressed in 30 minutes or less.

That is good to know and it makes sense. The US cannot afford to play the global spoiler any more, instead they can play a proper role as the global balancer and protector.

What is your opinion about the Sunshine policy:
Sunshine Policy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If the opposition wins the next election in South Korea, you think there is any possibility of it being revived?

Personally I would like to see that both Japan and a unified Korea, though remaining under US umbrella, make attempts to create their own strategic strength, through a regional union with ASEAN, because the US may not be enough to balance China in a few decades and India is another ambitious player who will chart its own course for their rise, which may not align well with ASEAN expansion.

.
That was when Korea was weak and a 3rd world country. Now the ROK military is very powerful.

Yes.

yes, even togo or fiji could claim such, if uncle sam stood in their back yard with full support.
If you had the ability, you would have attacked them years ago and not try to starve them to death along with america and its allies. Talk is cheap, they have shelled you, sunk your naval boats, what else.

.
What is your opinion about the Sunshine policy:
NK defectors state that the NK regime was this close to collapse and the Sunshine policy saved the regime, so they curse Kim Dae joong's soul burn in hell. But then again, nobody would have wanted to see NK collapse back in the 90s because the ROK couldn't have afforded to pay for the NK reconstruction back then.

Times have changed and the cost of NK reconstruction is estimated at 20~25% of the ROK's current annual GDP and the sum will only get lower in each passing year, so the government can finally afford the NK takeover this time around and this is why there is such an excitement for the NK invasion among the conservative and military circle, and all war plans are revised to call an immediate invasion when there is a first sign of a popular revolt in NK.

If the opposition wins the next election in South Korea, you think there is any possibility of it being revived?
The Sunshine policy is very unpopular so not unless the opposition risks losing the next next election. If the opposition wins the parliamentary(This is expected) and presidential(Unlikely because all the opposition candidates are political losers) election, who knows then.

I thought the almighty ROK army doesn't need US's help.

Trust me US won't be this stupid, if the War starts missles will fly not only over Seoul, but Tokyo as well, I don't think US is that crazy, otherwise it would've taken the action before NK's nuclear development.

Talking is cheap, go for it if you believe what you are saying. One thing you are right is that China probably will not directly intervene this time, it will cut a deal with US and watch the fire show with a glass of wine in hand.

Even with peaceful unification, it will drag down SK's economy and it will take a long long time to recover. See the Germany example, not to mention NK is much poorer than east Germany and SK is not as advanced as West Germany. That's the reason most South Koreans want the unification emotionally but don't like the idea from economic perspective. Even US/China can magically dismantle NK's army and hand the country to South Korea, South Korea will think twice whether to accept it.
