Al Jazeera English - GENERAL - Islam in America

Watch part 4..........4m.45 sec

I was amazed to find out that the the supreme court of america has a stone sculpture/picture of all the books/ideas that inspired the american legal system....one of the books is the koran.

If you carry on watching ,the library of congress has a mural with the nations and ideas that contributed most to the american civilization, one of the ideas being islam.....the shot of the mural is a bit dark but if you download the show if should be clear.

ohh...yes...lets be happy about the crumbs from the master...

ooooh...yes white man...i appreciate that you have honoured me, even in the slightest, subtlest of ways...

Islam is not a religion which can be elevated by some body placing the quran in the supreme court of any country, nor can it be dengrated if it was removed, or spat upon in gitmo.

should you be so desperate to be appreciated by those, whom you would instantly classify as kafir?

are you satisified that your book is one of the books on display?

are you seeking justification about your religion, from teh act of someone condemnable by your religion?

There is a whole field of study of how religion has impacted mankind. Theology.

I think dabong was merely commenting upon the theological nature of his discovery. Chill man.

Thanks for that" fortune cookie" moment.

So christians are kaffirs now are they..........you must know about islam then the scholars and imams that have come before you?

are you satisified that your book is one of the books on display??

Yes

are you seeking justification about your religion, from teh act of someone condemnable by your religion?

The people my faith hates are the same people that killed the sahabi and where munafiks.......sound familiar.

will a christian be so excited at seeing a bible in a pakistani court? Why should it matter to us that we seek justification from "others"?

The impact of religion can be a matter of academic discussion. But getting excited over any slight "praise" from ideological and theological opponents betrays one's own inferiority complex.

.
I don't think one needs to have some sort of inferiority complex in order to appreciate the fact that the quran is present in the American citadel, so to speak.

The US is a great nation, and like all great nations, its founders studied the philosophies and religions of the world and chose the best ideals for their country.

What has this got to do with racism? Just by mentioning the word "white", do I become a racist? Please don't use the "racism" card with such abandon, that it loses all meaning.

I don't know which scholars and imams you are referring to. But the word kafir, means someone who "rejects". This is a Qur'anic term to denote all those who have not accepted Islam, wether they be the people of the book (jews, christians) or people from other religions.

It can be loosely translated as "non-muslim". Now if the word has negative connotations these days, it is not my fault. Maybe people should re-educate themselves regarding this word.

First of all, sahaaba is the plural form of sahabi, so get your grammer right.

Seconly, what has this got do with having the Qur'aan in the supreme court?

If you have an issue with something, come out with it.

I would agree with the above, if that was the extent of it.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of people who look towards the west for validation of their own beliefs and culture.

And it's not just restricted to the above, but in all manner of things.

There is a specific mentality at work, which is that only those things are worth appreciating which are acknowledged by outsiders, i.e. those in the west.

Even in Pakistan, artists are not appreciated until they are feted in europe, or in Bhaarat. Because the foreigner praises something, then it must be good.

So using the term "whiteman" and blaming the "whiteman" is not racist...?
What about the word "blackman"...is that a non racist term for the people from afrca.

Dont think so.......before you become a expert get some real knowlege on the issue.

Are we having a engleeesh exam..?

If you have an issue with something, come out with it.

Go study islam and then come back!

The whole world is saying, Obama will be the first Black President of the USA. Is the whole world racist? As it is, I was not blaming any white men. I was blaming people like you, who are so pleased with crumbs of praise by others.

There are plenty of racist terms for dark skinned people, but I'm sorry, "blackman" is not one of them. What planet are you on?

You might not "think" so, but I "know" so. I gave you a proper explanation, and you come out with this one-liner. So where are you hiding all that knowledge? Must be keeping it in reserve, I guess.

You took 6 days to reply, and this is the tosh you came out with? If my understanding is so deficient, how come you could not point out a single thing, and correct me on it. It's easy to make such blanket statements.

Go study islam and then come back!

Sorry to disappoint you, but you have not made any point, argument, or statement, which needs study of any kind, to reply to. Would I need to be a P.h.d holder to answer a 6th grader?

How can you say that ? The Supreme Court realises that there is some wisdom and goodness in Quran and thats that.

Can any religion work 100 % in the present days, I doubt so why are you bitter about it.

The reason why i posted the link was not to get praise from the "whiteman" but as an argument to blunt any attack on islam/koran.
The next time the "whiteman" from the USA says something negative about islam/koran at least muslims can say that the koran/islam is an ideal that the founders of america used in the making of america.......it puts the "whiteman of america" on the back foot.

The term whiteman and blackman is racist depending on the context its used in........and the context you used it in is racist.

If christians and jews are kaffirs then why are muslims allowed to wed them..?

You must be really lonely if you have been waiting 6 days for me to reply.
Have a nice day!:smitten:

How can the context be racist, when I was blaming you, not them. As the child of a "white" parent who reverted to islam, I would take offense to being called racist against white people, if it wasn't so laughable.

Christians worship the trinity. They are mushrik. The Quran says, do not marry mushriks. Yet we still marry them. REason being, it is an exception given by God. Our marrying them, doesn't justify their idol worship, nor does it alter their status as rejectors (as in kafir) of Islam.

Well, you should be glad there's at least someone out there on the look out for you.

Islam was revealed as a testament, criterion and a way of life, from the advent of the propeht of Islam, till the last day. the Qur'aan is not going to be "out-dated", it will always be with the times, as it is the spoken Word of God. And God is All knowing, All powerful.

Erm, no its not. It has some of the "wisdom of the ages" so to speak, which is basically common sense found in most religious texts, but I daresay that a modern book on humanism carries far more wisdom than that.

Like all religious texts, it carries a mix of common-sense and superstition.
