What's new

Kolkata class Guided missile destroyer

.
but poorly armed one

there're plenty of spaces left with to arm it to the teeth which will be done later on during the refits.

For such heavy tonnage destroyer armed with a 76mm gun? Lol...

I think at that time 127mm gun was not materialized that's why Navy went with 76mm.. i think most probably durig the next refit we might see 127mm gun on it or later but the Follow on ships (P-15B) will have 127mm gun.

don't know and I don't think its far away.. Now Barak-8 will have to be fitted once the tests are completed. But still i'm not sure if it will ever have a 127mm gun.

Note- Barak-8 is been successfully test fired last week.

. . . .
Oh is it?

World's most fearsome missile on it . The most powerful air defense missile is also coming up. decoy to divert torpedo is also coming up.

Why yo make such foolish comments every time :hitwall:

Ok ,Its too long Time before this wait for Brahmos-NG :), so that OPV and submarines couls also be equiped.
Yeah NG variant will be very useful as it will be smaller and thus will be carried by all sort of vessels and aircrafts.

F the fun mate they armed ship with just 32 VLSs and their main Anti Aircraft Missiles range is just 70KM
Well you are wrong in this regard.First of all,the range of the Barak-8 missiles has been increased to at least 90 kms from the original 70 kms and at present the destroyers will be carrying another 32 Barak-8 in their hull for quick replenishment purposes.Plus once we have a mature LACM(Nirbhay) in our arsenal we are going to refit these destroyers with 8 of those LACM and 32 more Barak-8 missiles along with the 90 cell UVLM!!The Indian Navy has conveniently left a lot of space unused in these destroyers for a major weapon integration during the future refit!!Plus,Barak-8 despite having arange of about 100 kms is currently on of the best LRSAMs available in the global market apart from Aster-30 and SM-2 ER.
You are also conveniently ignoring the fact that this destroyer class hase been equipped with 16 Supersonic Brahmos ALCM/ASHM which has a range of around 300 kms and in future they will be replaced by Brahmos-II which will be a hypersonic version of this cruise missile. So,technically speaking this destroyer class is at present probably the most lethal guided missile surface platform:coffee::coffee:!!

So,what it;s armed with a 76 mm Otobreda Super Rapid gun!!127 mm gun is only good for shore bombing and giving artillery cover to the landing party!!Otoh, the 76 mm super rapid gun can be used for both shore bombing and also as a CIWS for any incoming low flying aircraft/missiles due to it's high rate of automatic fire of more than 100 rounds per minute. That's why the Indian navy has chosen the 76 mm gun over the Russian and French 130 mm guns:coffee:!!

I fail to understand your logic. Give me one reason why I should appreciate my enemy's war machines that will be used against us in the event of a war.

To let u know that dont go to war its foolish to do so the other side just dont have Tea stalls they have monsters also
