Where the heck is criticism on Mr. Raheel's actions in this article? all I could understand was Musharaf did this, Kiyani did that so Raheel is a King? I mean I would have appreciated the effort of secret staff member if he had educated me with what mistakes Raheel is committing or has committed? To target someone for his fame and popularity is not criticism it is ****** unethical, and attacking someone's personality because you cannot digest his popularity and support from people is not journalism it is your hate. For the time being it looks like staff member got paid by likes of Taji and Co to write something out of his rear.

As an outsider, I think the problem Pakistan faces is the 'saviour' complex - there are major problems, but instead of making structural changes which are needed (and extremely tough - to be fair), your nation looks for a saviour who will lead the nation to prosperity and peace without any pain - and true to demand, a new saviour arises every few years. As long as the saviour is there, the rest of us can avoid our own responsibility/culpability. The sentiment is somewhat similar to all these inked-fingers we see during elections here - a lot of people wouldn't pay their taxes, merrily flout laws if/when they can and generally show no regard for others - but because they vote, they are good citizens. All their sins count for nothing because they voted.

On a different note, I think every time a new COAS takes over in Pakistan, I read articles talking about how X leads from the front and is a thinking general. As if other generals were unthinking or didn't lead from the front.

Don't think an average Pakistani will agree with the contents of this article. However makes perfect sense for a neutral perspective. Pakistanis have this kinda thing in them to romatisise & idolise their Army leaders. Either this is due to utter failure of civilian leaders or effective image building by the military establishment. However this macho worshiping only lasts till the tenure of the chief at the helm. This was the euphoria even in the past...& one can remember then civilian leaders pushing to confer Gen Kayani with Field Marshal title & the man could do no wrong. But now that he is retired...he didn't do enough things right when he was the chief. So was the case with your ex CJP. You guys are too quick to put someone on high pedestal... & once the charm runs out, baam..slam him down to earth in no time. Maybe be there is a need to find a balance somewhere in between!
