Kim Jong-un envisions Vietnam-like opening for North Korea: source

are you mad? you Chinese are welknown as Western worshipper. Look at the hordes of chinese tourists storming German supermarkets buying everything as if all the cheap stuff are Gold. just because they are made in Germany.
Politically, you are a western dog, and you should admit that. So you have no reason to ban those western media who are praising you for being a good dog of them. Get it?

Ok you ban Facebook and YouTube. Why not ban Internet too? All are western evil interventions. Undress yourself beccause you wear western dresses. You can return to wearing Ming or Manchu dresses.

Ok make sure your underwear is made in China.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un shared his envisioning of Vietnam-style opening and transformation for the world’s most reclusive state during last week’s tete-a-tete with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, a ranking government official said Thursday on condition of anonymity.

During their 40-minute private time last Friday when the two summits spent 12 hours for broad talks at the truce village of Panmunjom, Kim told Moon that he prefers Vietnam-styled opening over the Chinese model, the official said.

Vietnam came up many times in their talks, he said. Vietnam initiated economic reforms called Doi Moi in 1986 by adopting open market economy and attracting foreign capital while maintaining its socialist identity. The source said North Korea has been thoroughly studying Vietnam’s economic reforms. Vietnam offers greater liberalization than China and maintains an amicable relationship with the United States.

Kim hopes for dramatic progress in the North Korean economy and thinks the Vietnamese model is more plausible. Since he believes improved relations with the U.S. is pivotal to draw foreign capital, Kim is expected to discuss Vietnam-style opening while negotiating the denuclearization scheme with U.S. President Donald Trump in their upcoming summit meeting, he said.

There is an ancient Chinese proverb. When you open the window to let the fresh air in, flies will also come in.

Opening up is a double edge sword. You can cut the enemy but you can cut yourself too.

Sun Tzu says. Before forging an alliance beware their true intentions.

Pompeo was a CIA agent. Destabilizing government, color revolution and regime change was his last job.

Join the dots.

It makes sense for NK to ally with Vietnam because both start from very low base. Vietnam suffers 4 wars on her sole and decades of economic sanctions while NK just one and decades of political and economic isolation. Ok let’s forget for a while China exports wars to other countries, in contrast to VN and NK, you enjoys decades of peace and development.
Do not forget your women in Malaysia is on trial for murder of Kim half brother.

The Chinese can’t blame Vietnam. They are the one who push us into corner. as for NK, as socialist country Vietnam has an exellent relationship to NK, building more trust to NK probably more than China to NK, especially to General Pak Yong-sik, the commander of North Korea Armed Forces. Vietnam has very deep understanding how the West functions and how the East works. NK can tap the experience when allying with Vietnam. There are speculations Vietnam may have helped North Korea to circumvent sanctions.

General Pak Yong-sik seems a strong man within Kim inner power circle.

The only difference there is between China style and Vietnam style opening is that Vietnam's one is done by less competent people. Other than that it's pretty similar. Kim was just trying to reassure SK and the US by talking about a "friendlier" (more submissive) country as its model. Nothing to see here.

.
But the China Model of opening up since 1978 has enable it to grow into a $13.4 trillion economy while Vietnam is still less than $250 billion. This is quite puzzling.

Vietnam is more similar to NV than China. After all, even the CCP says that every nation must find it's own path to success. It's good that they try to emulate a nation with similar history of war and not try to follow an example that they are destined to fail to live up to.

Kim will soon realize he needs to transit to constitution monarchy from absolute monarchy. Vietnam can open up because the country is not private property of Uncle Ho.

Very soon, NK people will realize they are conned by Kim family when internet and TV start coming in.

Maybe a revolution that kick out Kim 3 Fat and family will occur.

Propaganda is a scary thing. No doubt once sanctions are lifted anything can be explained away with "Now that big bad America isn't scaring away all our trading partners everything is better. Long live Comrade Kim for pulling of a diplomatic masterstroke that outwitted the sly foxes devious schemes!

China will quickly look for another proxy. The Kim family is there because they fake the legends of Paektu mountains, and conduct massive brainwashing on the people.

There is a strong faction in the Central Politburo (labeled the reactionists) that are against rocking the boat and setting up possible instability in NK. The reason why there hasn't been a coup that turned NK from just a dependent nation into a puppet one is that whenever someone planned to do so the faction told the Kims.

The incident where a top official was executed by an anti-aircraft cannon is one of them.

Wow, just wow!

The people who killed 20% of your people and destroyed all your infrastructure and cities should ensure their security. This coming from a Viet.

Take a look my my avatar gif!

Preach it! American troops will never be given such a responsibility, even South Koreans dislike their presence.

Kim might want them to stick around, but only to provide a counter-balance to any possible Chinese military dickery.

Good choice of dress.

On subject... good development, stability of region should be top priority instead of delivering democracy, revolution, secularism, freedom etc. in a blood bath.

And guess which national association is perfect for that?

ASEAN : "Non-interference is our policy! That includes the Rohingya, don't worry Myanmar."

Indonesia is already leading the way to build understanding, cooperation, and trade. NK is a huge untapped market and ASEAN would be a great neighbour to a developing NK.

Jakarta.
A delegation of scholars and experts from several Asian countries are set to visit North Korea next week, where they are scheduled to meet with North Korean officials and figures to discuss hot-button issues in the region.

The visit comes as tensions are seemingly on the decrease on the Korean Peninsula, and North Korea appears willing to engage with members of the international community.

In a statement issued on Wednesday (28/03) night, the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) said the delegation will be comprised of eight members from Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and New Zealand.

"The purpose of the visit is to engage the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] in a discussion on contemporary issues faced by the region," the statement said, adding that the discussions will also touch on economic development.

The visit – which will take place from April 3 to 7 – was initiated by FPCI founder and former Indonesian deputy foreign minister Dino Patti Djalal, who will also lead the delegation.

Members of the delegation aim to share their respective country’s experiences during the meetings with representatives of the North Korean government and organizations, which will be held at the Kim Il-Sung University in Pyongyang, North Korea.

Indonesia-North Korea Relations

Relations between Indonesia and Korea date back to Sukarno’s presidency. The two countries established diplomatic ties in 1961, and have official representations in each other’s capital.

Indonesia is one of the few countries that still maintains relations with the isolated country, despite international sanctions against North Korea throughout the years.

North Korea’s first leader Kim Il-sung visited Indonesia in 1965, a visit that was reciprocated years later, in 2002, by former President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

However, Indonesia has maintained its position for denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and engagement, and has condemned North Korean nuclear tests.

Indonesia has been using its close relations with North Korea to help maintain peace, security and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

According to data from the United Nations Comtrade, Indonesia's export value in 2015 to North Korea was worth $1.4 million, mostly from residual vegetables and soaps. While Indonesia import volume from North Korea was worth $1.42 million.

Asean is not NATO. It is a teethless organization.

Our GDP per capita would be equal to China today if the Chinese hadn’t staged genocide war in Cambodia forcing us to intervene, because they used it as pretext for another war against Vietnam. As usual seen in history.

There are apparently too many humorless Chinese who think days and nights to seek a pretext to start a war as if they are blood sucking zombies.

Yes Vietnam is cheap but NK is going to be even cheaper, provided NK is willing to embrace market economy after sanctions lift. Assembly lines always prefer places with lowest labor cost and are easy to relocate, plus, NK and SK are blood kin. Now give me one good reason Samsung should choose Vietnam over family to assemble their phones
The unification of two sides Korean now is a question, I don't believe Kim could ignore his regime in North Korea easily to come back to South Korea. Even when it happens, It needs time, not easy like East and West Germany. Vietnam now is not a good place for Samsung like 5 years before. You dont hear about the plan of Samsung in Myanmar? Not mention to North Korea. Vietnam also realizes that.

Stop talking jokes here. You became the poorest country in the world was due to the collapse of your Daddy Soviet Union... And your invasion of Cambodia was not to do with China, but your self-inflation: the mistake you have not realized even today: without your daddies' support, you are just piece of shit.

Your country should be responsible for million death in Cambodia. Your support to Pol Pot regime made the situation of Cambodia worse

I heard about viets blaming everything on China but I didn't think it was that prevalent.

Lots of countries were supporting Pol Pot, not just China. But vn was not your savior. Their intention was to rule the entire Indo-China peninsula. Even without Pol Pot, they would invade Cambodia as well due to their self-inflation. So they should not blame China for the crash of their economy. If they do not realize their mistake and still be used by the west to counter China, there will still be "good days" ahead for them...:D
BTW, if not for China's pressure on vn, you would still be slaves of them, unless you are a vietanmese, which I highly suspect you are.

What is self inflation? New terms in English for chinese?

Man, the Cambodia people celebrate January 7 every year as national holiday, to remember the day when Vietnam tank army arrived the capital of Cambodia annihilating the Pol Pot army. Over 10,000 chinese military advisers marched into prison camps.

Without Vietnam, Cambodia does not exist today but a place for millions of deaths. We are poor because we were fighting against enemies in our sole. You are poor because you export wars.
