Kim Jong-un envisions Vietnam-like opening for North Korea: source

When the Vietnamese wanted to be Korean workers,China has chosen to govern itself.
CN is the best perfect production base. The best ports, the best highways, more experienced engineers and workers. The most important thing is that China has its own famous enterprises to challenge foreign companies.
Tell me,Can Vietnam be self-sufficient?
No we are still very far from self sufficiency. are you self-sufficient in producting smartphones? obviously not, see ZTE disaster. well, ok you have best ports, best highways, best engineers and best workers, but what do you do if you can´t sell the stuffs you produce? Take Puma, the German sportswear maker. right now, Puma produces 1/3 in China, 1/3 in Vietnam. the company says it would take Puma about a year to relocate all its China-based production to Vietnam (or other countries) because of US trade tariffs.

Yes Vietnam can take all productions of Puma from China in 1 year.

If I was you, I would begin to learn Vietnamese.

So much has been said by you little vn clown, but still it takes merely 3 days for China to achieve vn's full year industrial output...
Learn vietamese? So hilarious, may be it helps finding women in vn...

Nonsense. Vietnam is the perfect production base. Samsung producees 50 percent of the global output there, this year expected to rise to 60 percent. If anything the Koreans will shutdown all plants in China. You are too expensive. Plus, China is no longer a prime market for Korean products. Worse, you are too hostile to the Koreans after Thaad was installed.

Yes Vietnam is cheap but NK is going to be even cheaper, provided NK is willing to embrace market economy after sanctions lift. Assembly lines always prefer places with lowest labor cost and are easy to relocate, plus, NK and SK are blood kin. Now give me one good reason Samsung should choose Vietnam over family to assemble their phones

Samsung spends years and lots of money ($17b) to make VN into a production base. Last year Samsung shifts $54b worth of products from Vietnam to oversea customers. we are heading $100b mark in few years once all factories run at full speed. Why should Samsung risk the money printing machine? Samsung just sets up a R&D center.

VN has workforce, machines, logistics, supply chains, free trade pacts, etc...while NK none. OK, nothing is impossible but that will take years.

The first can be ensured by US security umbrella in exchange for giving up nuclear weapons.

Wow, just wow!

The people who killed 20% of your people and destroyed all your infrastructure and cities should ensure their security. This coming from a Viet.

I am only talking about the Assembly line, do you have a comprehension problem

of course it will take years to build a whole supply chain -a supply chain Vietnam doesn‘t have yet, to claim Vietnam having a tight grip on Samsung’s production base is beyond ridiculous. The number you were quoting, is "worth of products" like you said, not "value added". Most of Samsung‘s operation in Vietnam still revolves around its cheap labor cost, even the newest OLED production line in Vietnam only handles late stage processes like lamination and FPCB bonding, which are considered fairly labor intensive. The OLED panels are still cut and shipped from SK.

NK used to send many migrant workers to China and Russia, you should see them -- efficient, disciplined, only work for less than 1000 yuan a month:D I think soon enough Vietnam will get fierce competition.

The source said North Korea has been thoroughly studying Vietnam’s economic reforms. Vietnam offers greater liberalization than China and maintains an amicable relationship with the United States.

In which way or area does Vietnam offer greater liberalization than China? Politically or economically? Internet? SOEs? MNCs?

ZTE is the fate of pro-american companies. The us gave the Chinese government an excuse.I feel very good.
2017 China's export:15.3318 trillion yuan≈2.4135 trillion dollar.
China's GDP in 2017:12.7 trillion dollar. It means China's domestic demand is greater than its exports.:coffee:
Exports to the US account for only a quarter of China's exports.LOL

In 2018,Puma has shrunk in China.Chinese buy Li Ning, ANTA more.Who cares about a failed foreign brand?

You pay 1,000 Yuan? That is rediculous little. Shame on you. Ok Vietnam is primitive and poor. I wonder if only cheap labor counts, why Samsung doesn´t shift production to Africa? or elsewhere? Man, making smartphone is today a highly computerized process, no major manual labor is involved, not even in a developing country as Vietnam. Take the Vietnamese smartphone maker bphone, the only manual thing required is packing a finished phone into a box. all other processing steps are done by computer or robots.

basically everything

Internet: Vietnam allows facebook, youtube, etc...

Politicics: Vetnam implements division of powers, shared between party chief, government leader and parliament speaker

SOE: Vietnam only keeps major stakes in strategic important companies such as defense, key infrastructures as elrectrial power distribution. the rest is up to privatization.

Difficult to imagine NK having that level of liberalization if Kim really intends to emulate Vietnam.

Smart idea of Kim Jong-un

Classical dance of Viet girls on a Vietnam-Korea festival

Good choice of dress.

On subject... good development, stability of region should be top priority instead of delivering democracy, revolution, secularism, freedom etc. in a blood bath.
