The British Empire paid tribute and agreed to take on the vassal role to the Chinese emperor.
You guys still believe in your delusional fantasy world that being a vassal state to China meant subjugation. If you guys actually read your own history books you would realize that China would not trade with countries that did not agree to becoming a vassal state to China.
Thats why the British Empire and Korea agreed to paying tribute to the Chinese emperor. Pay the emperor 1 gold coin and make 1000 gold coins by trading with China. You guys should quit distorting history by proclaiming that anyone who paid tribute was somehow militarily defeated by China. It was the other way around kid. THose countries were exploiting CHina to make a quick buck.
Just like whats happening to China right now.
It's not about money and trade.
It's about national dignity.
Nobody knows how many times Stupid and pathetic korean kings kotowed
to chinese emperors.
