Khawaja Asif says his ministry not in control of foreign policy

The civilian government. Somebody who is an elected official. Goes through the election process and is transparent and vocal and does not jeopardize national security by holding a work permit from another country.

But that is irrelevant here because Pakistani Army se badle jo nikaalne hain

Which is why the DG ISPR may not be such a bad choice after all. :D

. .
Why is this even news ?
Everyone knows pakistan is a quasi military dictatorship .
Which country has a law banning criticizm of the army ?
And India has an army that begs for food on YouTube. Report that

.
The entire world knows NO prime Minster OR foreign minster can utter a word without PRIOR approval from your ARMY . and it seems the USA has now realised this too.

But I GET THE IMPRESSION you PDF members are MORE than happy WITH THIS scenario

extract from the article at Dawn website :

Is it bad ?

How do you know what Army is doing is good, We thought the same greatness about General Kayani and now everyone says he sold us....you know what because there was no accountability...right now we dont know what Bajwas promised US, we will know in few years when we realize we were sold out. But that is what Pakistani people want so be it.

Bro,

The core of the problem is what i put in bold in your message i've quoted. Could you find any accountability inside civilian institution ?
Since decades, even with Benazir as civilian prime minister everyone knows the 10% guy.... was there any accountability ? Didin't you heard that Rehman Malik sold NADRA database to US ? So do we know how civilians sold us at which price ?

At Kayani Sahab time, threats were prioritized as usual, and he tackled the top threats as he could correctly... We have the habit to see the half empty glass, but never the other half glass. Yes of course same could be said about civilian, but could we find anything we can be proud from them ?

To tackle the system, we need a strong central government, strong local governments, strong army, strong institutions etc... for sure. But for this we have to modernise, improve our education system... do the civilians wadera, chaudry, zaindar etc want that to change ?

From article:

"Winding up discussion on the recent visit of the US secretary of state to South Asia and the new American strategy on Afghanistan, he said the foreign policy was being shaped by different institutions and no single institution was in charge of the foreign affairs"

"However, he said the policy was framed in the light of recommendations of the National Security Committee and parliament."

What a way to spin things DAWN *slow claps* and no wonder "some" people got excited because of the title.

The piece of excrement is trying to throw the army under the bus, the people will not accept it, he may get a standing ovation from RAW but that does not count, one should ask Quisling ooops Haqqani.Kudos

This is the key quote:

"The foreign minister, while referring to the remarks made a day earlier by Senator Farhatullah Babar who criticised him for advising the Americans to have an Afghan policy free from the influence of generals and asked him to apply the same in Pakistan, said: “I agree that it should be so.”

He made it clear that he had not “unwittingly” criticised American generals for their failure in Afghanistan, saying the new US policy was ineffective because it was influenced by the generals who suffered defeat in Afghanistan.

“The Americans have devised a framework for their policy for South Asia, which is in fact focused on Afghanistan. It was devised by generals who have struggled in Afghanistan for the last 15 years. I do not think any policy can be made by people with that baggage and mindset,” he remarked."

Of course, the irony is clear, given the assumption that only US Generals could have created and followed failed policies.
Zardari and Nawaz playing double game with national security institutions. ...

.
Looks like all is not well between Pakistani government and Pakistani Army.

Zardari and Nawaz playing double game with national security institutions. ...

Well, the national security institutions have side-lined both of them quite effectively, as was expected.

.
civil govt and army both are failing in foreign policy. new competent civil govt is needed for good diplomacy and foreign policy so no need for army involvement is required
