Three leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are seeking party ticket to contest the by-election from NA-124, a local media outlet reported on Tuesday.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Abid Sher Ali and former Lahore mayor Khwaja Ahmed Hassan are in the race for the ticket.

I posted the following in another thread about why is there a witch hunt campaign against PTI :

By-elections, By-elections, By-elections. By the time media houses like ARY and 92news, the likes of Kashif, Klasra, Mateen, Arshad Sharif etc get it, PMLN in cahoots with Geo plan to run away with the show.

It is about creating the impression of a besieged and already in trouble PTI in the minds of general public and boost the morale of down and out, all but defeated PMLN supporter.

The sooner PTI and like minded Anti corrupt media gets it, the better it will be for the good of Pakistan.

Imo Hassan gonna get the pie in the end as he's khawaja! while abid shair and khakan would be hitting the rock.

It is the fault of PTI to some extent. It seems it has become too soft and playing on the back foot. However, as far as by-elections are concerned, InshaAllah PTI will win with even bigger margins than before. However, the media is paranoid because PTI has stopped the tradition of the government's media management with buying their support. Rather, most of the anchors barking against PTI including Rauf Klasra, Arshad have got thick funding which they could not decline...

Lets not underestimate the power of Media, specially when they are all hell bent on creating a shit storm against PTI; some by a well thought out design and others being the fools that they are as in the usual cut throat media vultures hitting out for ratings when left to fend for themselves.

PTI will do well to create a MEDIA ADVISORY COMMITTEE in the name of better relations with media and include the likes of critics and investigative journalists like Klasra and Arshad Sharif as advisers for good measure, if you know what I am alluding towards without any malice or wrongful intention. PTI looks like having lost its political thinking cap since they came into power.

Attock, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore(Khan, s seat), both Karachi seats, Faisalabad and Chakwal are very safe

But even if I were to agree with you then what is the harm in acting to up ease and garner support from the media. PMLN never leaves any such opportunity to do so, not now and never in the past during Panama days and that's why they have been able to survive and counter the onslaught of the law and popularity of PTI. Even now they are at it to get as much space as they can in court cases.

PTI has to play politics on equal footing to counter PMLN and not take things for granted after achieving so much, it is time to consolidate and the sooner the better.

124 is a lost cause, androon Lahore is still very loyal to Shariffs, just look at the margin with which Hamza won. The only silver lining there is candidature of Abbasi, I don't think people will support him with same fervor as would have been the case if the candidate was a Lahori or in case of Abid Sher Ali atleast a proper Punjabi and related to Sharif family.

I am more concerned about 131, now that Khan is not contesting there it will be a tough seat to get back.
