The pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has released raw footage showing “Pakistan-Khalistan Zindabad” slogans and Khalistan flags near the Army Cantonment in Patiala city of India's Punjab state.
The group’s General Counsel, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, issued a controversial message warning Sikh youths against enlisting in the Indian military, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s politics could leave them “orphaned”, Express News reported on Wednesday.
In his video message, Pannun urged students to question their parents serving in the army, asking whether defending Modi’s politics is “worth dying for”.
He further claimed that Modi’s political agenda uses war with Pakistan to gain electoral support.
“Stop your parents from fighting for India,” he said. “Don’t let Hindutva’s agenda make you orphans.”
He called on Sikhs to support Khalistan and reject what he termed as Modi’s “war politics”, adding that Punjab must be “freed from Indian occupation”.
The Indian government has not officially responded to the footage or Pannun’s latest remarks. SFJ is a banned organisation in India, and Pannun is a designated terrorist under Indian anti-terror laws.
