Khaleda Zia's son is sentenced 7 years for money laundering

I agree Zia had some reputation, may be still does to a certain section but when did Khaleda Zia have any reputation? She was the godmother of all extremism in Bangladesh during her last tenure. She never had any reputation apart from being 'uncompromising' leader during 1990 but she herself destroyed that so called reputation by her own silly acts. She has always been a lady with questionable character. She had an 'alleged' affair with Pakistani army officer Janjua in 1971, She never demanded a trial of her husband Zia's killers who at one time refused to take her home after knowing her relationship with that Pak army officer. Later she developed an arch-rivalry with Indian counterparts. Being Pakistan friendly in all her political career. Most heinous crime was allying with war criminals. She has always been a controversial politician.
Could you give more details to her alleged affair as it is something new?

That is a BS propaganda by Godless people. Begum Khaleda Zia fled Pakistan Army at the beginning of the war. Many people close to her who helped her to escape faced brutal torture at the hand of the Pakistan Army as her Husband was the one who started the liberation war.

Begum Zia was arrested few months later after escaping and was put under custody of the aforementioned Pakistani officer.

Zia UR Rahman hearing this sent a letter to the officer where he wrote that he would kill him if Khaleda faced any harm.

You see, this is where I abhor Bangladeshis like this poster. On one hand They respect the thousands of War heroine as it suits their agenda of demonizing Pak Army on the other hand They make fun and like to spread rumor about another war heroine as it suits their political agenda as well which only proves that any affection shown by them is pure hypocrisy

The Beerangana's deserve respect for what they suffered in the name of their country. Kindly do not use them for political point scoring. I understand you are a BNP/Jamaat supporter ?

No. I am not a supporter of Begum Zia or Tarek. However The nationalist ideology propagated by her Husband is attractive to me. By the way poster isn't important, post is. If you go through ordeal of Begum Zia and those who gave refuge to her during 1971, you will react like me too at the allegation of her affair.

That is incorrect. After a certain amount of posts you realize that some posters post nothing of value or reality like Al Zakir or that chap asad71. Better to filter out posts from these folks and their compatriots.

As far as I understand - and feel free to correct me if you feel otherwise - the only 'nationalist ideology' that BNP has ever offered is a heady cocktail of Islam mixed with anti-Indianism.

Because if you rationally consider then it has always been AL who has been able to get India to agree to Bangladeshi terms (ie acted in favour of Bangladesh which actually gets Bangladesh something), the kind of which BNP has never ever been able to get from India. That can be from India abdicating 10,000 acres of land for a land swap agreement with BD or India agreeing to forgo lakhs of acres of maritime territory.

If BNP was in power, India would not have ceeded an inch of land or water to BD. So I wonder why you call BNP as nationalist.

maritime boundary, land swap?? Long debate and we have wasted hours after hours for those threads. Spare me the trouble.

She has two infamous affairs. One with Pakistani army general Janjua. She was under his custody during 1971 war. Zia refused to take her back home. She went to Mujib's house. Mujib called Zia and ordered him to take her. From then Zia had an uneasy relationship with her. She even didn't demand trial of her husband's killers. She took a big house from then military dictator Ershad for free. She never ever even raise the issue of Zia's killers when Ershad (many suspect he killed Zia) gave her lots of properties. Second infamous alleged affair is with her party man Falu.

Wow did not know this. Is it true @bongbang ?

. . .
So you are saying @kobiraaz is lying or he is not a BD citizen or both?

Why don't you ask any reference from them? From any book by any known non partisan writer if everyone in Bangladesh knows this. There are thousands of books on 1971.

Well there are rumors of her counterpart too. I just chose not to go down to that level.
