Khaki problem -- poverty of imagination

an excellent article. i think being too India-centric was the pakistan army's main problem. unlike the indian army, the pakistan army has much more influence in the coutry. thats evident from the number of military generals who have ruled pakistan. so obviously, the army's policies would have a lot of influence on the nation.

as the author said, "The provision of bread, the provision of justice and the glorification, nay deification, of education -- as reflected in the injunction of the Prophet, peace be upon him, that to seek education go to China if you must -- are the only true pillars of the state that we should have constructed long ago". for this to happen, the army has to be detached from politics, since the army will always be india-centric (as it should be). but pakistani politics should not be india-centric. and if the army controls politics, the politics will be twisted to suit the army.
