Exactly, that’s what I believe, too. In fact, allowing Pakistan to go to South Korea for its defense needs will shield the US from any foreign policy implications. It will allow the US to satisfy both India and Pakistan. Plus, it will allow the US to have influence on the Pakistan, an influence that’s dwindling at a pace not good for the US.

KAI will hold a launching event of the 4.5-generation stealth fighter jet in the second week of this month, according to the CEO.

Starting 2028, KAI will begin the export of the KF-X aircraft based on its competitiveness in price.

“It takes about 100 billion won to 200 billion won to acquire one F-35 fighter jet. Lockheed Martin aims to bring down the price to $80 million per unit, but the maintenance costs are so high that even the US is considering to develop new 4.5 generation fighters or upgrade existing fighters,” said Ryu Kwang-su, head of aircraft program division.

“KAI aims to set the price of KF-X fighter at $65 million with minimized maintenance costs. Our analysis says that such price range will offer KF-X a competitive edge in the global export market.”

if there are American components in there then the exports will be subject to American approval. this pretty much rules out Pakistan.

you see? the common theme here is Pakistan. Jets or Subs or Helicopters , or education in high tech fields. Pakistan is barred directly, not because of its allies.

and India wont play ball unless Pakistan is contained and denied American hardware.

India was in the Soviet camp unofficially and it didn’t stop the US from engaging with them. I don’t think things are as zero-sum as Pakistanis imagine. Pakistan’s value to the US as compared to India has diminished but Pakistan can’t be written off.

Pakistanis simply need to be creative and create win-win situations, or in the very least, no spoil relations further.

Ultimately, a democratically stable and economically vibrant Pakistan will gain respect which’s the only way to create value and sustain it. Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh are some examples of why economic vibrancy and democracy can have dividends beyond one’s borders.

Block-1 of K-FX does not have internal bays.
However Block-2 of K-FX is planned with internal bays according to THIS link.

So block-2 K-FX would be a fifth gen fighter. There is also Block 3 in plans at this time, even before 1st prototype rolled out !

Wikipedia is not a good source, they tried to hide Indonesian technical participation even they said only ADD Korea who is a designer of KFX/IFX program. Actually both ADD and Indonesian team (Indonesian Aerospace+Bandung Institute of Technology) who made the KFX/IFX C 103 design that become a base of final C 109 design of KFX/IFX. KAI single engine design is rejected and it just enter the program in 2016. I get banned by trying to edit that page saying there are 114 Indonesian engineers participating in design as July of 2019 where the reference is DAPA Korea official and use Jane defense as source. I still get banned at Wiki until Today.

As much as the KFX is a good fighter jet , it's a shame certain countries can't get it since they probably don't want American strings attached to them.
