ISLAMABAD: Key Taliban commanders are among 33 Uzbeks and three Germans killed in North Waziristan tribal agency in a counter offensive of the armed forces launched yesterday.
SAMAA reports quoting military sources that majority of the terrorists killed in the operation were foreigners.
Some of the key commanders, including Wali Mohammad, Ismat Shaheen Batni, Noor Badshah, Maulvi Farhad Uzbek, of the banned Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are also killed in yesterday’s operation, sources said.
Armed forces including Pakistan Air Force conducted coordinated operation of in North Waziristan and adjoining tribal areas Monday night killing over 40 suspected terrorists.
Sources have said that those killed were involved in Bannu, Qissa Khawani bazaar and Peshawar Church attacks.
The retaliation by armed forces came after Taliban bombing in Bannu on Sunday that killed over 20 personnel of the armed forces followed by a suicide attack near army headquarters in Rawalpindi yesterday in which over 13 people were killed including five army men. – SAMAA
