Kerala to get NSG/Israeli-trained SWAT team

. .
Thinking of SWAT to counter talibanisation ..is pessimism at it's best.
It should be the last thing to do..but I do agree that it takes time to build competent SWAT teams and to be prepared for the worst.
The govt., state and center , should take steps to prevent spread of extremism , under the direct or indirect influence of Gulf states , especially saudi arabia.
There should be more opportunity created locally to moderate the outward flow to Gulf.
Kerala govt. should see how China, Vietnam or WB are changing the laws of communism.

.
Largest muslim population % wise ,yes the threat is real.
my self from kerala... in entire life i had friends with many muslims , i never felt any extremism , yes of course there will be few..
those kind of people are in all the communities

On a lighter note, it is bad Mallus are getting SWAT cover during the dam issue with TN. This is upsetting the balance of power and threatens regional stability :D

ha ha..... TN can raise Marine force ........

Why can't they Buy INSAS 5.56?!
It's been in service with IA for over 15 years and will stay for another 5-10 years!
I think that the "issues" have been ironed out in the newer ones!

Bcs INSAS is not good for CQB.

Bcs INSAS is not good for CQB.
It is,but not as good as MP5/Uzi et all.
Kargil(where this gun was used) also saw many CQB scenarios!
BTW,it still is cheaper than H&K/IMI products!
I think that this should replace the Lee Enfield .303's and SLR's:)

For me anything is better than those .303s that belong to museums. I heard a joke once that the barrels of the Kerala Police .303 is so old that when fired there is no guarantee that the bullet will go straight.

As for INSAS, the very fact that forces like Rashtriya Rifles prefer AK 47 over INSAS is a sign that INSAS don't match up to their standards.

I do not agree with your last part!
RR wants the AK because it uses 7.62mm bullets whereas the INSAS 5.56 uses the 5.56mm bullets!
This(7.62 vs. 5.56) debate is going on in the US/NATO military too!

Muslims in india have a soft corner for pakistan for some reason.....dont know why but i have seen it myself....cant generalize it but at least tamil nadu muslims feel that way .....it only came to light during one worldcup match india was playing pakistan and this muslim kid from across the street casually told us that he wants only pakistan to win lol.

Not only that, the barrel length and the overall length of INSAS is greater than AK-47

Also I think you are confusing CQB with COIN operations. For COIN you need bullets with greater stopping power, while in CQB you need guns with greater maneuverability as range is not much an issue here.

Jihadi fundamentalism in Kerala is a bigger Problem that its perceived.

So much so that kerela is the only state whose muslim boys went to kashmir for jiahd.

Gulf money is fueling more radicalism and the sheer numbers of Muslims is a huge theat.

We don't want to hear the demand for the creation of another Pakistan and BD.

Secularism is alright . But lets never forget its possible as long as Kerela is Hindu majority.
