I remember reading a higher percentage long ago.
From what i know Kerala had a matriarchal society...Specially amongst the "nairs".

A Matrilineal society. Not completely Matriarchal. The property passed through the female bloodline and traced our ancestry through a common female ancestor. Though it is true the women had more rights comparatively

We have a society that is antagonistic to business, and we depend on the remittances sent from overseas. Rampant alcoholism.

But I must admit, I consider myself relatively lucky to be born in Kerala.
